高野 秀行
1966年東京都生まれ。早稲田大学探検部当時執筆した『幻獣ムベンベを追え』でデビュー。辺境探検をテーマにしたノンフィクションや、早稲田時代の青春や日本での異文化体験を描いた作品を執筆。2006年『ワセダ三畳青春記』で第一回酒飲み書店員大賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

辺境作家として有名な高野秀行氏の新作です。

最近ではどちらかと言うと、ミャンマー関連で名をはせている氏ですが、今回は原点（？）に戻りUMA探しになっています。
相変わらず、常識人が聞けば呆れる様な荒唐無稽な生物を、真剣に・情熱的に探しています(一応）。
今回も、最初から最後まで色んな苦労がありますが、それは読んでのお楽しみで。

高野氏の本は、肩に力の入らないホッとした優しい感じと偏見のない性格、
そして多彩な表現で読者を未知の世界に連れて行ってくれると言う最大の魅力で、老若男女問わずオススメできる作家であると言えます。

個人的には、十台位の少年少女に是非読んで欲しい作家さんです。

ウモッカが好きだ。ぜひ見つかって欲しいと思う。
でもこの本はダメだ。
さんざん引っ張っておいて現地に入国できなかったという探検家として恥ずべき記録。

…バスの中で読み終わって、バスを降りて思い切り林の中に投げ捨てました。
