田辺 聖子
1928年大阪生まれ。小説家。樟蔭女子専門学校(現大阪樟蔭女子大学)国文科卒業。64年『感傷旅行』で第50回芥川賞、87年『花衣ぬぐやまつわる…』で女流文学賞、93年『ひねくれ一茶』で吉川英治文学賞、98年『道頓堀の雨に別れて以来なり』で泉鏡花賞/読売文学賞受賞。2006年朝日賞受賞。95年紫綬褒章、08年文化勲章受章(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

川柳百句の勘所を示して、人生を楽しく過ごす方法を教えてくれる。
このご恩は忘れませんと寄りつかず(大田佳凡)…大概は、忘れないから寄り付けない。恩を受けたところは、やつぱり敷居がたかいのである。
かしこい事をすぐに言いたくなる阿呆(亀山恭太)…りこうぶってすぐ口に出す人に突きつけたい句。川柳で示せば，喧嘩にもならないのではないかと筆者は言う。
大日本天気晴朗無一文(川上三太郎)…これぐらい格の大きい句はなかなかできない。ユーモアがあって、しかも声調が整っている。結句の「無一文」がでんぐりがえしの効果を放っている。
出世せぬ男と添うた玉子酒(薮内千代子)…昔の人情物の小説を読むみたいに、温かい庶民の夫婦の家庭的味がある好句。
