　両親の離婚で八歳にして九州の寺で小僧生活を送るようになる。波乱万丈の人生を歩んだ坊主の辻説法。勇気や元気を得て「冷暖自知」の「行動する人」になることを奨める。
　体験こそが唯一の禅の道であると言い切る。逆に言えば「何も（よけいなことを）考えないこと」お釈迦様は「山川草木悉皆成仏」と説く「成仏」とは、命の輝きだと説明している。
　あらゆる既成概念を否定し、「無」に還る。そこに「座禅」がある。こらえた先に、何かが見えてくる。落ち込んだら、じたばたせずにじっと耐えていればいい。これと思えるものに出会ったら、前進あるのみ。
【人は、生きているうちに死に切る必要がある】我欲を捨てると、見えてくるものがあるということである。「死後の世界なんてない」とはっきり言う仏教者である。生きている間に「諸縁の因縁を放下する」大切さを説いている。禅の本来は無一物を生きるのみである。「不立文字」である。本書を出版するのも不本意であると著者が言うのも珍しい。

仏教や禅はその境地にならないと解らないと古希を迎えます。
この一冊でかなり解った気がします。無こそ仏と。
