5.0 out of 5 stars ココロ主義ではない姜尚中流「知」の癒し……, 2007/4/28
　著者の今までの著作から比べると「ヌルイ本」である。しかし、そのヌルサは心地よく、また「知」というシンが一本しっかりと通っているだけに一切の「ブレ」がない。

　著者はまた、前作「愛国の作法」で示した「自身の立つ位置」を本書では、手法を変えて語っている。「東大教授の語り」を捨てているのだ。前作でも垣間見られた、「熊本生まれの姜尚中」の語りが中心で、それは「東大教授の姜尚中」を超えて読者に響いてくる筈だ。

　どうして著者はそういう手法を取ったのか。それは著者が何よりも「人間」として読者に伝えたいという気持ちを最重要としたからであろう。

　「人間」とは「人」の「間」と書く。他者とのコミュニケーションこそが人間そのもの。
　本書での著者の言葉である。本書の通低に流れる言葉である。

　姜尚中ファンだけでなく、不安を抱えるこの国の幅広い人にお勧めの本である。

　人によっていろいろな感想が出てきそうな本であるが、私はとても好意的な
感想を持った。今のニッポンの社会が進んでいる方向に対して「果たしてそれ
でよいのだろうか」という疑問と、考える手がかりとなる情報を提示している。
記述は非常に平易で誰にでも具体的に読みこなせるような文章になっている。

　全体と通して「自由になればわれわれは幸せだろうか」というメッセージを
お金、仕事、メディア、友人関係など身近な材料を絡めて問いかけている前半
と、ニッポン自身のことだけに関心を持つのではなく、世界の中でニッポンが
どうやって処するのがよいのか、さらに平和についての考察が最後になされて
いる。

ネット上の連載を新書化したということで、各テーマに対する姜氏への読者（？）の質問が、美しく編集せず「本音」であることにまず好感がもてた。「私たちの不幸は、私的な領域においてしか幸福を見出せないと思っていることです」や「友達を見れば、その人がどんな人かわかります。その人と人間的に同等の友達しか持てないのです」など、自分を冷ややかに見つめられる言葉が多い。
ちょっとお疲れお中年世代でも、逃げず、流されず、そしてしなやかに、なんとか「まともに」生きていきたいと思わせてくれる1冊だった。
