途中、話の本筋からずれて「男社会」に対する恨み事を愚痴るあたりはもう・・・
新書ではなくエッセイで出してくれていたら、私も間違えて買わずに済んだのですが・・・
著者のように、自意識過剰な女性ならば満足できる内容だと思います。

　樋口一葉の作品解説。一葉のあの文体は難解で作品を読みきれないが、まずは一葉のなにが良いのかは知りたい、という私にはありがたい一冊。江戸文学の専門家である著者が、江戸文学からみて一葉を理解するという道筋を示してくれている。
　西鶴と一葉の作品には共通するところが多いが、一葉の作品には別の要素もあって、そのことが明治の時代性を示すという議論は興味深かった。江戸から明治にかけての吉原の変遷などという話もあり、明治という時代の雰囲気をつかむこともできる。

　江戸文化の研究と啓蒙に活動する筆者の樋口一葉作品の解説書。
特に「たけくらべ」について詳細に記載されている。私は同作品を
単なる郷愁だけで読んでいたが、登場人物が口ずさむ小唄ひとつにも
心象を反映する意味合いを含むことを知った。一葉作品は独特の
「擬古文調」を読解する楽しみ以外に、江戸文化をたっぷり含んだ
世相を知ると更に趣が増す。本書は一葉文学の良き案内書である。
　表題は一葉作品の登場人物が自らの運命に窮迫されて、思わず
叫ぶ一言である。一葉が活躍した明治２０年代は江戸文化が庶民の
間から駆逐される最後の時代であった。一葉は江戸の香りが消滅する
ことに「いやだ」と叫んで、自らも消失したのだと思ふ。
