確かに日本人には理論的な思考が浸透していないと、本書を読んで思った。日本の教育界では作文でも絵でも、どのように書くかは指導されず「考えていることを自由に書きなさい」と言われてきた気がする。その点アメリカでは、型にはめるがごとく、理論的な文章の書き方をたたき込まれる。日本の現状を見ると、しっかりとした裏付けがないままに物事を決めつけたり、政治家やニュースキャスターの解説のように支離滅裂なものが出現したりしている。それではどうすれば理論的な理論展開ができるようになるのか。本書はそれを指南している。

著者は最初に「この理由は３つある。第一に・・」という口癖をつける事だという。この方法で曖昧な理由で物事を主張する事を避けることができる。そしてこれは理由は少なくとも３つは必要だという事でもある。次に、物事にノーを突きつけて、「現状はおかしい。改めるべきではないか」と物事を自明の理と考えない事だと説く。

何が起こっているかは一目でわかるが、何が起こっていないかはわかりにくい。起こっている事と起こっていない事。著者はこのようなあい反する事柄を二項対立と呼びホンモノの思考力の根幹に置く。

多くの日本人が理論的に思考することに慣れ、正当な裏付けのもとに日常的に政治や社会について議論できる社会が到来すれば、日本はもっと世界的にも成熟するのではないか。「頭がいい人、悪い人の話し方」では墓穴を掘ってしまった著者だが、こちらは理論的にまとまっている。

全てのノウハウ本において言えることだと思いますが、本を読んだからといって"能力"が身につくわけではありません。"読んだら実践"をしなければ"力"にはならないでしょう。
その点、この本においては「口ぐせ」という身近にできる実践方法が書いてあり"実践"しやすいでしょう。ただ気になるのは「日常生活でうまく口癖を違和感なく織り交ぜて会話するということ」
でも！話をするときだけでなく、人の話を聴くときだけでも大変役に立つと思いますよ。

　ある物事を批判する視点を養うために役に立つ本。
確かに作者のフランス旅行の経験から論理的思考がある人は「二項対立」「型思考」「背伸び思考」を行っていると結論付けるのは短絡的である。しかしこれらの思考は非常に有益である。
　なぜなら新書や新聞を読むときに切り口となる視点が手に入る。そして物事を切る視点の数が増える。文中ではその方法を３what３ｗ１Hと名づけている。また「しったか」や「受け売り」なんてしまくっていいんだと気が楽になった。

　物事の切り方、自分なりの意見を手に入れる人の入門書。☆五つ。
