この世界には２種類の人間がいる。
スタンダードとよばれる人間とカナリアとよばれる亜人種。
カナリアはヒトと同じ姿をした翼をもつ美しい存在であり、
ヒトが観賞用として人工的に創り出した。
この世界ではカナリアは主人に飼われ、オリの中で生きている
か弱くも美しい存在である。
カナリアは主人から綺麗に手入れされ歌を練習してショーに
でるように躾られたり、資産家に売られる運命を持っている。
しかし、カナリアはこの世界で美しい歌声で人々の心の支えと
なっている存在でもある。

この物語をよんでカナリアをめぐる人々の哀しさと優しさがひしひし
と伝わってきて感動しました。
この本を一読することを是非お勧めします。
