昔の少女漫画が読みたくて、衝動的に買ってしまった一冊です。
でも、私の中で、これから生きていく上ですごく大切な
一冊になりそうな作品です。
ヒロインの亜美の生き様がすさまじくて、背筋がぞっとしてしまうほど。
亜美のスポンサーになる謎の少年、朱鷺がこれまたいい男！
とても１８歳には見えない。
今時、こんな少年いないって・・・、思いながらも引きこまれてしまいます。
私は亜美と朱鷺の心が通じ合うシーンが大好き。
亜美のように情熱的に生きられたら素敵ですよね。

昭和49（1974）年、『りぼん』連載作品。当時、母方の叔母―20代前半だったと思う―が『りぼん』を買っており、それで読ませてもらうのを、オレは楽しみにしていた。もっとも、オレにとってのメインは土田よしこ氏の「わたしはしじみ！」だったのだが（ま、赤塚ギャグで育った小４のガキとしては、ごく自然な選択ではあるな…）、この《ど・シリアス》な「デザイナー」も鮮烈な印象を残しており、オレの中ではこのふたつが二大連載、だった。でもって一方には「ブラック・ジャック」と「がきデカ」を両方読むことができた『チャンピオン』なんかもあったわけで、この頃からオレの好みというやつは分裂気味というか極端だった、ということがわかってしまったりするわけだが、まぁホント、ぜいたくな少年時代だったとは思う（どっちかっつーと、家は貧乏だったけど……）。

しかしこの“愛と復讐のグランドロマン（？）”「デザイナー」。おそらく現実にはありえない、先が読めてしまうお話であるにもかかわらずぐいぐい読ませてしまうとは、まったくもってただごとではない。作者がノリにノッて描いている感じが、ダイレクトに伝わってくる（作者いわく「最高にやる気出して好き勝手描いた、最高に好きな作品」、とのこと）。セリフ・画（ポーズも構図も）・展開、すべてがことごとくキマっていて、読んでいてシビレてしまう。オイルショック直後の作品ということで、力ずくで富や栄光や名声を手に入れることを人生のひとつのゴールとすることに対する疑問、のようなものが提示されている点も興味深く、終盤、その展開とはうらはらに、爽快感のある幕切れもみごと。おそらく何度でも再読に耐える、これは傑作だ。

ものすごいスピード展開。はやいはやい。
みせるみせる。そして、暗く重く熱くせつない。
やっぱり泣けました。
この作品は短めなんですが、一条ゆかりの中で一番すきかも知れません。
