平安王朝コメディ「なんて素敵にジャパネスク」の続編であるが、前作よりも更にスケールアップして、笑いあり涙ありのスペクタルな物語に仕上がっている。１冊でこれほどの要素が（しかも簡潔に）詰まってる作品も珍しいのではないだろうか。

このシリーズの最大の魅力は、なんといっても主人公瑠璃姫のパワー溢れる行動力と人間味溢れる性格にある。そもそも平安時代の深層の姫君は、殿方には声も聞かせず常に御簾の内にいて、女房たちに取り囲まれて生活するのが普通なのだが、それを悉くぶち破って各方面に騒動を巻き起こしてくれるのだ。

時代ものが苦手な方にも、きっと楽しんで頂ける１冊だと思う。

「ジャパネスク」シリーズ第二作。王朝時代を現代風の感覚で描くと言うアイデアの鋭さで好評を博した前作の続編。

本シリーズの魅力は、女性読者を意識しているせいもあるが、ヒロイン瑠璃姫を天真爛漫でパワフルに描いている事だろう。逆に男性陣は身勝手か臆病に描かれている。本作では前作の東宮が帝になり、瑠璃姫に色々チョッカイを出してくるが、肝心の高彬は煮え切らない態度。業を煮やした瑠璃姫は尼寺に駆け込む。相変わらず三角関係(吉野君を入れると四角関係)に悩む瑠璃姫。そんな時、瑠璃姫の実家が火災に遭い、そこには「呪瑠璃」の文字が。この文字の意味は ? 吉野君は絡んでいるのか ? 瑠璃姫の活躍が始まる...。

深窓から出ないと言う平安朝の女性のイメージを大きく打ち破って、破天荒で行動的なヒロインを創造し、恋と冒険の世界を華麗に展開させたエンターテインメントの傑作。
