この作家さんの著書はたくさん読ませていただきましたが、この小説だけはほかの作品とずいぶん毛色の違う、ちょっと変わったファンタジーです。
主人公が異世界にトリップしちゃうのですが、その世界というのがほんとに美しく儚く透明で、せつないお話とあいまって、自分自身も奇麗に浄化されていくようです。

日常生活に疲れたときの現実逃避におすすめです。

初めてこの本を読んだのは随分昔なのに、強烈な印象が残っていました。
どうしてももう一度読みたくなり、購入したのですが、今読んでも胸に迫るものがあります。
主人公は15、6歳の少女ですが、彼女の抱える痛みはどの年齢の女性にも通じるものがあると思います。
ちょっとした謎解きもあり、切なくもあり、そして、希望と勇気を持てるこの作品。

ぜひ、読んでみて下さい。
続編にあたる『シンデレラ　ミステリー』もオススメです。

20年以上も前に出た昔々のコバルトなのに、色あせない魅力を持った名作です。
主人公の利根は、今で言うひきこもりの女の子。対人恐怖症で、現実の友達も作れず、学校も休みがち。大学教授である父親が唯一の肉親なのに、心を開けず打ち解けて話ができない。それでもパパが大好きで、友達もほしいのに･･･という切ないくらいのいじらしさに、共感して泣けてしまいます。
利根のさまよう不思議な世界は、虚構の物語の登場人物（それも敵役ばかりという）が生きていて、しかも彼女らは利根の持つ悲しみと痛みを同じく抱えた人ばかり。だから限りなく優しく、救いのない世界でもある。
利根を現実に引き戻してくれるはずの“あの人”が、実は本当の王子様ではなかったという悲しみ。そんな思春期の恋を、どうやって克服するのか。利根はどうしたらこの世界から抜け出せるのだろう･･･
全体に漂うメランコリックな雰囲気と、利根の愛した虚構の世界の人々に出会いたくなり、時々読み返す物語です。ちなみに本作は『ジェーン・エア』を下地にしているので、あわせて読むともっと面白いと思います。
