恋のドレスをつくる仕立て屋「薔薇色」の店主クリスは
公爵家の御曹司シャーロックと想いが通じたばかり。
しかしシャーロックの妻として一番ふさわしいと目される
伯爵令嬢アディルはシャーロックへの想いをたちがたく、
闇のドレスをつくる「ノア」へドレスの依頼を。。

「薔薇色」とのつながりを保とうとするアディルの執事ハノーヴァから、
クリスとパメラに舞踏会の招待状が届いた。
その舞踏会には、シャーロックも招待されているという。
出席するか悩むクリスに、パメラやシャーロックたちは。。

引き続き甘さ増量中＆二人の恋メインのお話です。
クリスに接近する男が出てきて、シャーロックは嫉妬でいらいら。
意外にシャーロックのほうがふりまわされています。
クリスの考えは、ちょっと謎。
え、そこでそんなふうに考えるんだ、みたいな。
アディルは。。切ないです。
彼女に関しては、シャーロックは鈍。
でもそのおかげで、うまいことふりきれた、って感じでしょうか。
次回、そろそろ微糖に戻っちゃうそうです。

ヴィクトリアン・ローズ・テーラーシリーズの本編の12冊目です。

前回の『恋のドレスと約束の手紙』に引き続き、糖度高めの甘いお話です。
毎回どこかの貴族のお嬢さまのドレスを仕立てながら、そこにクリスとシャーロックの恋が織り交ぜられてるのですが、今回はドレス仕立ててません。
オルソープ伯爵家で開かれる舞踏会の招待状がクリスとパメラ宛に薔薇色に届いた事から始まる物語です。
バーンズ婦人の強い勧めにより、パメラは舞踏会に出席、クリスもバーンズ家のメイド的な役割でオルソープ家へ行く事に。
一方ミセス・コルベールの夜想に恋のドレスを仕立ててもらうアデル。
彼女ははどうしてもシャーロックを手に入れたくて。
恋のドレスを着てシャーロックをベランダへと導いて想いを告げ口付けすれば、きっと恋が叶うだろうとリンダからアドバイスを貰ったのです。
そして舞踏会の夜口付けをかわしたのは…。

物語の後半部分のクリスがジャレッドに対して言った言葉に切なくなりました。
クリスとシャーロックの身分の違いや置かれている立場と、それを理解してるクリスの想いに、とても切なくなります。
それでも今だけは…と願うクリスの恋の結末が優しい素敵なものだといいのにと願わずには居られません。
