伝統あるブラーナ帝国の皇女・アグライアは
異教徒の軍の侵攻から助けてもらうため
北のフレンドル公国へ赴いた。
公国の最高責任者・ユーリは、
アグライアとの偽装婚約を見返りに
援助を約束してくれたが。。。

前作の続編かと思ったら、まったく別のお話でした。
舞台は15―16世紀ころ、ロシアっぽい国が舞台です。
お話のメインは、フレンドル公国の跡目争い。
美しく気性の激しい国母ゾフィーと、ゾフィーお気に入りの次男ロディ対
ゾフィーに虐待されて育った長男ユーリという図式です。
ブラーナ帝国の援助軍の準備をする間に展開される
フレンドル公国の跡目争い。
そんな中で、少しずつ心を通わせていくユーリとアグライア。
まじめでまっすぐな二人の性格のせいか、
結構どろどろな展開のわりに、お話は前作より甘い感じです。
個人的にはこちらのほうが好きでした。

　前作とは違う時代、違うヒロインのお話でした。
　相変わらず丁寧な文章で、文化や歴史など物語の背景を分かりやすく説明してくれます。

　それはいいんですが、「ラブロマンス」を期待しているとやや物足りないかも。二人が惹かれあっていく……ていうところの描写が弱いし、ストーリー的にもラブが中心に来てないみたい。どちらかというと家族関係のドロドロがメインっぽく感じました。そこはやはりうまく描かれていたと思うんですけどね。

　ヒロインはお姫様だけど威張ってなくていい子なんだけどいま一つ印象薄いし、ヒーローはまあまあ個性あるかなと思ったところもあるけどそれほど強く感情は入らないかな。というか、男性側の視点がないので彼がどんなふうにヒロインを見ているのかが分かりにくかったですね。ラブが弱い気がするのはそのせいかもしれません。
　あらすじ的にはもっとラブっぽくなるものだと期待していたんですが。ちょっと期待外れかな。
　文章も世界観も悪くないので、もう少し恋愛面に傾いて欲しいです。
