花衣先生の「ガーディアン･プリンセス」で少し出てきました、カークランド卿とその奥さんのアリスのお話と、アリスの妹２人のお話が３作入っている短編集です。

３作すべて甘く、当然ハッピーエンドです。
表題が３姉妹となっていますが、最後のヒロインは四女。
三女が出てこないのです。
その秘密は、最後の四女のお話で明らかになるのですが･･･。
その四女のお話も、最後にどんでん返しがあって面白かったです。

花衣先生が書かれる１９世紀貴族社会は、その当時行われていたであろうイベントや、貴族のお嬢様がしていたであろう礼儀作法や話し方がしっかりと書かれているので、本当に１９世紀に入り込んでしまった錯覚を感じさせてくれます。

ただ、１作づつにあまりボリュームがないせいか、え！？もう終わり？と感じてしまいます。
世界観に浸かっていたいという気持ちにさせてくれるので、ますますそう思ってしまうのかもしれません。

花衣先生の１９世紀貴族社会の世界観はぜひとも必見です。
合わせて、「ガーディアン･プリンセス」も読んでいただければ、ますます楽しめる作品だと思います。

アディントン家の三姉妹の恋と結婚のお話。
１９世紀イギリスが舞台の、短編連作集です。

父親が借金を残して亡くなり、
残された姉妹が生き延びるために、
お金持ちと結婚しようと考えた長女のお話。

現実的な計算と夢見がちな気持ちで結婚する次女の
結婚前後の恋のお話。

社交界の花で、こわいもの知らずの四女の恋のお話。

いずれも短いので、おもしろいけれど、ちょっと物足りない。
次女のお話は、短い中に長い年月がながれているため、
感情移入しにくく、いまひとつでした。
長女のお話は典型的なシンデレラストーリーですが、
すっきりまとまっていて、ベタですが好きでした。
四女のお話も最後がばたばたして、ご都合主義な感はありましたが
華やかで潔い主人公が好ましく、楽しめました。
