今は正直、まったく雅姫さんの本を購入しなくなりましたが、
この本は今見返しても、雅姫さんの
「ささやかだけど毎日の生活を素敵に」と
楽しんでいるアイディアに、まいってしまいます。
今は、あまりにもはやりすぎて、
「素敵な生活の本」が多くなってしまいましたが、
この本がでたばかりのころは、毎日繰り返される単調な生活に
うんざりしてしまっていた人たちの救世主のようでしたよね。
そして雅姫さんのアイディアというのも、
洋書の真似のような部分もありましたが、
自分にあったアレンジをして取り込んでいたし、
読者の人にも届きそうな生活スタイルで、楽しんでいるのが
とてもよかったのです。
今の雅姫さんの世界は、昔より洗練され、
とても素敵なのですが、読者の人には届きにくいスタイルに
なってしまったし、「私の生活って素敵でしょ？」という感が
とても強くなってしまったように感じます。
「洗練されたスタイル」か「身近なスタイル」か、
どちらを進むも雅姫さん本人が決められることなのですが。

世の中が「生活を素敵にしなくては！！」という風潮が
あまりにも強い今、
原点に戻って、「ささやかだけど毎日を素敵に」という
スタイルに戻ってほしいなと思えます。
だってしあわせって
単調な毎日の生活のちょっとしたことにあるのですから。
誰かにみせるのではなくて。

だから雅姫さんの初期の本が好きです。

シンプルモダンが好きで、ナチュラルカントリー＝ダサいって思ってました。テレビや雑誌で紹介されてても、何の魅力も感じなかった。ところがこの本を読んだとたん、成功するとこんなに素敵なんだ！と目からウロコ。隅から隅まで夢中で読みました。リネンのクロスなんかも買っちゃって…。でも待てよ。私は私、自分の好みを見失っては大変なことに。第一カントリーテイストでおしゃれに見せるのって一番難しいと思う。というわけでなんとか我に返り、日々の生活を見つめ直しているところです。でもこの本は今でも大好き。参考になる所もたくさんあります。これから読まれる方、雅姫ワールドはすんごい引力です。自分を見失わぬよう、お気をつけください。

どのページも、素敵です。雅姫さんの優しく丁寧な感じの生活、仲の良さそうな家族などなど...いい感じのはずなのに、何だか物足りない。何ででしょう。というのも、どれも「何処かで見たことある。誰かがやってた」の切り貼りみたいな感じがしてしまうのです。雅姫さんのオリジナリティがイマイチ感じられない。

そんな訳で初心者には効率よくまとめて素敵な生活シーンを見せてくれるいい本かも。但し、洋書などを読みこんでる上級者向けではありません。
