この巻では、東大生の考え方が紹介されるが、うなずける点が多い。
社会人になって、東大出身者と仕事をする機会が多かった。
そのときに思ったことは、東大出身者は、人の使い方が非常にうまいということである。
また、情報を重んじるという点もそうである。
いやらしい言い方をすると要領がいいということになるのだろうが、
彼らは、そう思わせないところがうまいね。
彼らを見ていると、バランス感覚が大事ということがよくわかる。
このバランス感覚は、後天的というより先天的なものという気がする。
だから、普通の人がやると嫌味に思えることでも、
彼らがやると、自然で人に不快感を与えない。
桜木に言わせれば、東大マジックにかかっていると言われそうだが。

今巻は大きく３つの内容に分かれると思われる。
最初の部分は東大英語模試、次に『東大に行くやつ』の発想法、最後にセンター試験対策。

このマンガを読む人間によって、興味をもつ部分は全然違う。受験生ではない私には、『東大に行くやつ』の発想の解説に新鮮な驚きをもった。

要は、東大に行くような人間が問題にぶちあたったら、どう解決するのかということである。
一般には、とりあえず自分で考え、模索し、ベターと思える解決方法をとるらしい。
しかし彼らは、まずは情報を集め、１番効果的な解決方法を探す。
前例を見習って解決するのが、一番楽で効率的であることを知ってるわけである。
私たちが何か問題に直面したときにも利用できる考え方だろう。

反面、各省庁などに、このような考え方の人間がたくさんいるからこそ、時々、私たちにはどうも理解しがたい対応をとるのかもしれないと苦笑してしまった。
社会に出たら、前例にこだわりすぎることによる弊害も考える必要があるのではないかと感じた。

人は誰もが面倒くさがりなんです。
が、人によって面倒くさがり方が違う。
避けがたい困難に直面したとき、人は二つのタイプに別れる。

１．調べたり人に聞くのは面倒だから、今の自分の知識と経験を基にして考える
２．自分で新たに考えるのが面倒だから、人がすでに考えていて効果のあるものを探し、それを利用する

１はオリジナリティは発揮でき、時に大当たりしたりしますが、失敗する確率の方が大きい。
当たってもまぐれ当たり、９９．９％は失敗に終わります。
どうしても「自己流」の範囲にとどまってしまうから。

２は確かに「個性」は発揮できませんが、ヒットの確率は高い。
大当たりはしないかもしれませんが、失敗のリスクは避けられます。

東大出の人たちは後者の考え方をする。
面倒くさいと思うのは誰もが同じだけど、リスクを避けた面倒くさがり方をする。

その方が「生き残って」いけるからです。
生き残って行ければ、次のチャンスもやってきます。

しかし、他人の考えたよい方法を利用するだけでは、発展がないようにも思えます。
桜木先生はこう言います。

　そして数をこなしていくうちに
　自分に合ったやり方・・・
　オリジナルへと進化させていく
　こうやって・・・
　”自分流のルール”を作っていくんだ

なるほどー。
これぞ自己流から脱した「個性」ですね。
そしてそれがまた他の人の役にも立っていく。
そういうよい循環を作り出せるのが、本当のエリートなんだなって思いました。
