　精神科にかかっている僕からみても、患者やその家族、医師、マスコミの描き方にはリアリティがあった。特に患者の絶望感をうまく表現できている。絶望の果ての微かな希望というラストに賛否があるようだが、あれでいいのではないかと思う。作者には精神障害者について読者にも考えてほしいという意図があるのだろうし、あのラストがないと、リアルなだけで全く救いようがない物語になってしまい、結果的に読者の心に響かず、何も考えられないですぐに忘却されてしまう作品になってしまったのではないだろうか。作者の意図するところを表現できているという点であのラストは成功していると思うし、僕はこの作品を多くの人に読んで欲しいと願っています。

知らなくてはいけないもの。関心をよせなくてはいけないもの。「無知」「無関心」は、罪。
そんな事、この本を手にしていなければ絶対に感じていなかったと思います。社会で平気に差別的発言をする人はたくさんいるし、点字ブロックの上に自転車を止めて、目の不自由な人の行き場を妨げてしまう。悪気はそこにはないのだろうけど、それは、罪。

多くのレビューで「おおげさすぎる」などの批判が飛び交っています。僕は医療関係の仕事に就いているわけでもないし、そこに知り合いがいるわけでもない。だから、これが本当におおげさなのか否かなんてわかりません。けど、どちらにしたって、この作品を書いた作者には、何か読者に伝えたい事がある。こんなにも、悲しくて、悔しい事を、必死に読者に伝えようとしている。その誠意だけで、僕は充分だと思います。あとは、これを読んだ僕たち自身がこのあとどうするか。本当の議論は、そこにあるべきではないでしょうか？

よりたくさんの人が、この作品を手にする事を祈っています。

精神障害を持った方に関わる仕事をしているせいもあり、のめり込んで読みました。

男性が小学校に乗り込み、たくさんの児童を殺めてしまったあの事件は、私が仕事をはじめてすぐに起こりました。
報道やそこから聞こえてくる世論に対して、「違う！」と強く感じたものの、まだひよっこだった自分にはきちんとした言葉でどう違うのかということを言い表すことができませんでした。
５年経った今でも、多分うまく言い表すことは難しいと思います。

この本にはそんなもやもやした気持ちを代弁してもらった気がします。
精神障害をあまり知らない人、正直精神障害なんて興味ないという人にもぜひ読んでもらいたい本です。
