新海さんの美麗背景画集ということで、とても楽しみにしていたのですが・・・

画像の一枚一枚がとても小さくて少し残念です。

本のサイズ自体がB5判であることも気にかかりますが、
１ページに小さな画像をﾁｮｺﾁｮｺとたくさん載せるレイアウトが多いのは、
画集の体裁としてどうかと思います。

もし次があれば、収録点数は削ってでも、
A4くらいで一枚をドーーーン！と大きく、
隅々まで堪能できるようにしてもらいたいです。

正直版が小さすぎます。
倍の大きさが必要です。
印刷の方も月並みな色調整で、
新海氏の透明感ある色彩は
再現できていないと思います。

ただ
今までの作品を網羅的に並べることで
映像作品への入口としては
よいのではないでしょうか

ファンなので高いけど買ました。

今やアニメ界では時の人となった新海誠。
氏の創る作品のストーリーはどれも賛否両論となっているのだが、
緻密な背景美術の美しさに関しては、否定者も認めるほど多くの人が魅了されている。
その高い評価の中、満を持して出た美術画集。

公式、amazonともに収録内容が詳しく書いてなかったので挙げると、

○過去作品の背景美術
　「ほしのこえ」
　「雲のむこう、約束の場所」
　「秒速５センチメートル」
　「信濃毎日新聞15秒スポットCF」
○制作技法
○新海誠と美術スタッフのインタビュー
となっている。

背景美術は各作品の背景がほぼすべて載せてあるため、
都合上１ページに画像が４、５枚となっており、サイズも大小差がある。
が一方でそれはボリューム感となっており、
情感溢れる絵の数々は読者から時間を忘れさせてくれるだろう。

制作技法の解説は数ページであるものの、
写真をベースとした技法や動画背景の表現など、密度が濃いものとなっている。

インタビューは新海のイメージの原点などを知ることができる。

個人的な感想として、新海作品の世界観は、寂寥感を覚えるものにも関わらず、何故か見ていて心が安らぐものであったのだが、
それはこの背景が醸し出す不思議な安堵感によるものだったのだろう、と改めて実感した。
このアンバランスさこそが、賛否あれど、氏の個性となっているのだと思う。
