週刊少年マガジンに引っ越してきて、それまで１７歳だった設定を１６歳にしたものです。同じくスミレを操る不気味なオヤジ。そして、彼女？をの周りのレンゲ、アケビなどの人間模様を描いています。オヤジが操るスミレはパシリにされて虐められていたレンゲと友人になります。スミレはパシリにしていた人にずばっと本音で語ります。そして、気持ち悪がられながらも心を掴むスミレの言葉。そして極道の娘のアケビにもアケビのオヤジに意見し、アケビに友達という仲間意識を芽生えさせています。オヤジが腹話術で操っているのですが、彼女？の言葉は心に染みます。友達だから出来る。何も見返りなどを求めなく、掛け値無しでつきあえるスミレ。お笑いの中にもホロリとさせる内容となっていますが、最後はお約束のオチが付いていています。あからさまに「萌え」という大人が操っていることを堂々と書いている著者の姿勢には脱帽です。１７歳の方は朝日新聞の書評にも取り上げられた位ですから。秀逸な笑いあり、ちょっと涙ありと楽しませてくれる作品です。

シュールさと華やかさが混在しているサービス心が旺盛なギャグマンガです。

「スミレ17歳」からリニューアルされた本作は、
「スミレ17歳」と設定はほぼ同じだが、
より「友情」という要素をクローズアップした展開を、
意識しているように感じます。

内容は、高校生活になぜか入り込んでしまている
女子高生のからくり人形を操る中年男性を取り巻く
ギャグマンガになっています。

そのような本作がシュールである理由は、
主人公の中年男性が頑なに自分の存在を認めず、
自分の声を決してを発さない所と、
そのために酷く一生懸命な所です。

設定、展開が分かりやすく、
絵的にも華やかにも関わらず、
とてもシュールな妙な魅力のあるギャグマンガです。

一見すンごく見た目フツーの女子高生のスミレだけど、実は、オヤジの操る操り人形ガっコの先生が<特に校長>が気づかなかったりして面白いです。ただのギャグマンがなだけじゃなく、大事な事も教えてくれます。ぜひ読んでみてください。
