　ある週の火曜日に＃１を買って読み終え、水曜日に＃２と＃３を買ってこれもその日のうちに読み終え、とうとう止まらなくなり、木曜日から土曜日まで３巻ずつ一気に＃12まで読みきってしまった。＃９までの桜ヶ丘音楽学校篇はこれだけで充分に完成・完結している。＃10から始まったパリ編は物語の行方（というか感触）をまだ作者が手探りで探っている感じ。このあとどこまで進んでいくのかまだ見えないが、途方もなく長大な物語に発展・深化していきそうな気配を感じる。
　このマンガの面白さは「読んでいる時間の中にしかない」（Ｃ．保坂和志）。二ノ宮知子がつくりだすキャラクターの面白さも、読んでいるマンガの中にしかない。とりわけ面白いのは演奏会の情景を描いた箇所──たとえばシュトレーゼマン指揮、千秋真一演奏のラフマニノフ・ピアノ協奏曲２番（＃５）とか、千秋真一指揮のブラームス交響曲１番（＃８）など──で、当然そこに音は響いていない。しかし沈黙の紙面のうちにたしかに音楽が流れている。それも音楽の表現のひとつのかたちである。これはちょっと比類ない達成なのではないか。

　のだめ、１~３巻をためしに買ったけど、もうとまらず、
本屋へ走り、一気に買っちまった！

　そして、少しブランクを開けて、聞いていなかった
クラシックCD買いに走ってしまった！
　以前はブラームスが好きだったけど、最近はシベリウスが
好きになってしまった！

　ANDこれまたブランクがあったけど、最近楽器をやり始めてしまった！

　ああ、音楽っていいなあと再認識させてくれる麗しい作品！

堅苦しいクラシック音楽の世界を、決して貶めることなく
笑えるマンガに仕上げた手腕は、高く評価されるべきだろう
『のだめカンタービレ』、のだめ焦燥の第十ニ巻である。

世界演奏旅行から主人公千秋真一がパリの自宅に戻ると
級友の音楽レベルの高さに衝撃を受け
ただただあせるのだめがいた。彼は自分らしくあることで、
のだめに自信を取り戻させようとするのだが・・・。

本巻後半からは、日本篇からオーボエの黒木君が
パリのストーリーに参入！！
