　と言っても，グロい虫ネタはありません(ダンゴムシやヒル程度)。イモ虫系の登場割合がかなり高め。
　3巻からは仕事場として庭付きの住宅に転居してからの話が主なのですが，ここにはエサ台がまだ作られておらず，鳥ネタはやや少なめ。それでも，より広い観察環境(庭の家庭菜園)が加わったため，エサ台に絡まない鳥のエピソードがあって新鮮です。
　これまでの巻にも増して身近な生き物が多数出てきますので，同じ東北地方に住んでいる身としては共感できる部分が多数。生き物の生活圏を共有しているかと思うと楽しいです。

1巻、2巻の東北の町で実家の庭の鳥の観察やお母様との生活の様子の描写も楽しかったですが、3巻になって、実家近くに格安の借家で一人暮らしを始めて、その５０平米の庭で家庭菜園を始められてからは更に「虫ネタ」がパワーアップしています。
　私は毛虫、芋虫、蝶に蛾は非常に生理的に苦手なのですが、この作者の筆にかかれば、やっぱり頑張っている命なんだな、と可愛い気もしてきます（でも実物を見るとやっぱり嫌な気はするでしょうが）。無農薬で育て、見つけた青虫は青虫用の野菜コーナーに移すという作者のやり方に感心しました。

ほんとに、特にこれといって何もない、日常の話なんだけど
なんで、こんなに心に響くのかなあ。
なんてことないんだけど、腹を抱えて笑い、感動してしまう。
蝶が葉っぱに擬態するということだけで、不意に涙が出てしまった自分を
まだまだ捨てたもんじゃないのかな。と思わせてくれる不思議な本です。
