１〜５巻が最初の物語。
ギャンブルを題材にした漫画だが、普通のギャンブル漫画では決してない。この漫画は人生そのものを描いている。
既存のギャンブルではないというところが面白い。ルールの曖昧さがいろんな知略を挟む余地を残している。ずる賢い人間にとっては願ったり叶ったり。現実社会も公平というのはあくまで建前で、資本主義の社会ではずる賢い人間が勝ち残っている。ある分野では、このずる賢さが「工夫」とか「努力」とか呼ばれ、もてはやされている。
勝つためには人を出し抜かなければならない。勝つためには仲間を作ることが重要。
仲間の結束力は一人では不可能なことを可能にし、戦略の可能性を広げる。しかし時には自分が助かるために仲間さえ騙すのだ。
本当に生死がかかった時、信頼というやつがいかに虚しい希望か思い知らされる。利害の一致のみが信頼に足る唯一の根拠。感謝や情なんてものは自らの生死が迫った時には最初に切り捨てられる。しかし一時の利益を優先して仲間を裏切れば最低限の信用すら得られなくなる。仲間になってくれるものはいなくなり、カモる側からカモられる側になる。
騙された者は相手を「卑怯」となじり、騙した者は「負け犬の遠吠え」と一蹴する。さっきまで「負け犬の遠吠え」と言っていた者が、立場が違えば「卑怯」と宣う（のたまう）。
騙され続けた者は、疑心暗鬼にかられ、騙すのが困難になる。更に騙すためにはより巧妙なトリックを使い、安心させてから地獄に突き落とさなければならない。
騙し合いの世界では、相手の考えをコントロールした者が勝つ。騙そうと企む者も、その騙そうという意図がバレた時点で騙される側の人間になる。未知の人物こそ一番厄介な相手。
騙し合いの世界では、情報が武器となり、軽率な行動が命取りになる。しかし死を恐れて一歩を踏み出せないものは結局は死ぬ。何度希望が失望に変わっても絶望の淵に追い込まれても一縷の望みにかける勇気が活路を見出す。
ここまでの絶望はあるかというほど主人公を徹底的に絶望の底まで追い込んで...。
この漫画は凄い。

単純なゲームをダラダラやってるだけ。以降の展開も全て同じ。暇潰しにはいいと思う。
