吉原を舞台にした、花魁になるまでの主人公「きよ葉の女一代記の第1部です。『男の極楽、女の地獄。ここは遊郭、江戸吉原。』と言う、素晴らしい帯のキャッチコピーが、雰囲気を物語っています。そして安野モヨコ史上一番美しい、煌びやかな装丁！そして本の周りがピンク色と言うのも、凝りに凝っていて、花魁の世界を本自体でも表現しているような気がします。カラーページもかなり掲載されているので、絵のキレイさと凝り具合を余計に感じさせます。普段よりもおさえめなギャグが、この作品のドスの効いた感じをより鮮明に出していて、読み応えは充分です。花魁言葉（わっち、とか、ありんす）に数々の名言、小道具・着物と、好きな人には堪らない世界観で描かれていて、これからどう成り上がって行くのか、早く続きを読みたい気分でいっぱいになります。ただどことなく、登場人物達の顔が似てしまっているので、一度読んだだけでは、誰が誰だかちょっとわからない箇所も多々あります。「美人画報ワンダー」で着物にハマッたと書かれていた安野さんですが、これぞ趣味と実益を兼ねた作品ではないでしょうか。『ハッピーマニア』に続く、安野さんの代表作になりそうな予感がする第1巻です。

ためしに買ってみたんですが、めちゃくちゃはまりました。設定や人物もしっかりしていて勉強にもなります。着物の柄まで丁寧に描かれていて「ありんす言葉」も使われてます。人生がつらいのはいつの時代でもおんなじなんですね。主人公のきよ葉の強さや美しさや華やかさにとても魅力を感じます。

読んだあとに「自分も強くあろう」と思える、読み応えがある気持ちのいい作品ですのでぜひオススメします。

実写映画を見に行く予習にと思い購入しました。

著者の他の作品は何度か読んだ事が有り、
引出しの多さなどがプロだなぁと思いましたがそれだけで、
他に感じる事も無かったのですが、「さくらん」はもの凄いですね！

まず花魁とか江戸とかいうキーワードに惹かれていたのもありますが
（同じ様にドキ−ンと来る人は読んで損はないと思います、
丁寧に描かれた着物や和の町並みを見ているだけで楽しいです）
全編通してパンクなきよ葉が魅力的。
話は大道ですがテンポ良くだるくならずおもしろいし、
現代風な作者節炸裂のキャラクター達もすごく光ってます。
印象的な表情にグッとくる所もしばしば。

粧ひの強さにはきよ葉に通じるものを感じます。
櫛を渡すシーンの台詞で、粧ひの影での苦悩や気丈さを感じ、
泣けてきました（好きなキャラなのに最後の方の回想シーンの
ホクロの位置間違ってるし顔変わっててショック）。
きよ葉の若菊や三雲とのやりとりは女同士の怖さが見られます。
（三雲が禿をぶつシーンがトラウマです･･･）
あと子供がすっごく可愛いです。しげじ〜

きよ葉はとめきの頃「女」に恐怖して門の外へ逃げようとしますが
この作品全編を通して、とめきと同じ様な恐怖を感じます。
女のドロドロの世界への恐怖とかではなく、女で在ることでしか
生きられないといった閉鎖感や虚しさへの恐怖です。
そういった世界で気丈に生きるきよ葉はどこか危うく、
それがまたきよ葉の美しさ、魅力に映っているんだと思います。

遊郭の中で地獄を見、娑婆でも鬼を見たきよ葉が、
「てめぇで帰って来た」世界で日暮へと成長する姿は、
ぜひ見たいです。続編希望！

読後感は、私は勇気が出るというより切なかったです。
