Ｍ６６、アップルシード、ドミニオン、オリオン、攻殻機動隊と一貫して流れてきた士郎正宗氏の生命や種といったテーマへの考察が興味深い。氏が常々考えたり想ったりしているだろう内容が知と生命という観点から語られる。そういった点ではアップルの年表やオリオンで語られた士郎正宗流＜魂の在様＞と並べて観ると非常に趣き深い。（私にとっては趣深すぎて悶えまくっていましたが）

ストーリー自体は、光学迷彩と高性能義体をフル活用した特殊部隊アクションであった１とは異なり、今回は素子の電脳戦がメイン。
なにしろ素子は９課をクビになっている（死んだことになってる？）ので９課の面々の活躍はなし。＜そちらの続きが見たい方は１．５をどうぞ＞

抽象概念・生命・知性・種・個体・死・熱力学・山のような薀蓄などというキーワードを聞くとわくわくする方にはたまらんものがあるでしょう。「うげげっ」と思うけれども「読む！」という貴方には相当の気合と覚悟とネットでの用語検索環境を準備されることを提案します。

後、近年、フルカラーに拘っていた士郎正宗氏がどうなっているかが気になる方はぜひどうぞ。

　評価しづらいなあというのが第一印象です。いくつかに分けて考えたいと思います。

　１、前作の延長線上としてアクション全開、テロリズムに対する攻性部隊の物語をこの作品を求めることはできません。戦いがあるといっても電脳上のものが殆どです。よく分からない用語を発しているうちに終了という感じです。

　２、ＣＧ全開の絵がコレでもかと繰り広げられています。カラーもあるし絵師としての士郎正宗氏を求める人にはいいと思います。露出が多いという皆さんの意見には賛成。別にそっちに行かなくていいのになと思います。

　３、ストーリー。内容が自分には難しかったです。前作は構築された士郎正宗氏の世界でのアクションが中心でしたが、今作は、世界を増築しつつ、その上で話を展開していくといった感じを受けました。一応、今回も万物連結観の話だと思うのですが、他にもたくさんの要素が見受けられます。読めば読むほど味が出るとは思いますが、ＳＦなどにそれほど入れ込んでない自分は少し不親切かなとも感じました。

　３番を求めていた自分は、とても興味深く読んでいます。前作とは別の印象が強いので、好き嫌いは分かれると思いました。

前巻とは全く違うと考えて間違いない。内容はとにかく濃いので、読むにはかなりの気合いが必要です。好き嫌いははっきり別れるでしょうけど、攻殻機動隊の世界をもっと深く知りたいならオススメです。ただ、あれだけのパンチラ描写は必要なのだろうか・・・？
