まさに、今後の展開が読めない。護衛艦「みらい」を取り巻く人々の変化がまた面白い。「紺碧の艦隊」「旭日の艦隊」などはきちんとした日本国籍で戦うけど、同じ戦争時代でも、守るものがない戦士達がこれからどう動くのかが楽しみ。展開が読めない面白さ。これがいい

この第３巻の中に、印象的な台詞が有る。山本五十六が、草加に向かって言ふこの台詞である。−−「お前は未来を知ったことで何を失ったのだ？」（１８６ページ）−−まるで、『マクベス』の一節の様な台詞である。マクベス同様、人間は、未来を知る事で、何かを失ふのかも知れない。実に秀逸である。

戦艦大和で山本五十六長官以下連合艦隊参謀らと対面した草加少佐。「みらい」は食料と燃料を補給してガダルカナルへ向かい角松副長ら４名が上陸。第八艦隊が現われ第一次ソロモン海戦が始まろうとしていた。
