4.0 out of 5 stars 歴史は変わるのか？　歴史を作るのか？, 2001/4/2
　まだ始まったばかりのところなので評価を下すのは時期尚早だが、少なくとも第2巻まではすべりだし好調といえるだろう。海上自衛隊の最新鋭のイージス艦が突如太平洋戦争の真っ只中に放り込まれるという設定自体は、半村良の『戦国自衛隊』（あるいはその映画版）と、映画「ファイナル・カウントダウン」（アメリカの原子力空母が太平洋戦争当時にタイムスリップしてしまう！）を足して２で割ったようなもので、作者のオリジナルとはいえないが、作者があえてこの設定を選んだ以上、それら先行作品や、ありきたりな架空戦記物の縮小再生産に終わってしまうようなことはないはずだと信じたい。第2巻の末尾では、歴史の進路を自らの意志で新たに切り開く物語が展開してゆくことが示唆されている。今後に期待の持てるシリーズだ。

山本五十六連合艦隊司令長官の登場。初の交戦により死亡者が発生する。食糧と燃料を確保するためにシンガポールへ向かう草加少佐と角松二佐。二人の動きを追う草加の後輩津田大尉が現われて彼らと対面する。

『ジパング』は面白いが、この第２巻には少々失望を感じる。その理由は、この第２巻を読むと、かわうちかいじ氏が、「戦前」の日本を必要以上に否定的に捉えて居ると言ふ印象を受けるからである。「戦前」の日本には、確かに否定的な側面も有った。しかし、この第２巻を読むと、作者が、戦前と戦後の断絶を少し強調しすぎて居る気がしてしまふのは、私だけだろうか？（自衛隊の人々は、この第２巻をどう読むだろうか？）
