この巻でとうとう最終巻になります。12年間アルファさんを中心とした人たちの暮らしを読んできた自分自身も、タカヒロやマッキ達のように年を重ねていきました。その中で変わらなく街、風景、人を見守ってきたアルファさん。最終話のアルファさんの台詞「私のみてきたこと みんなのこと ずっと 忘れないよ」に胸がじーんとしたました。長く、ゆっくりと自分の心にのこるいい作品でした。

いつでも終わらせられるし、いつまでも続けることもできる。そんな物語の最終巻です。

普通の漫画なら終わった後というのは少し寂しくなりますが、この作品に関してはそれだけでは言い表せないような不思議な気持ちになりました。うまく言えませんが、物語は終わってもアルファさんはきっとあの世界でずっと生き続けるだろうということが分かってるからかもしれません。

また、これほど「続いている」ということが重要性を持つ作品も珍しいと思います。たとえばずっとこの作品を読んできた私はページを開いた時点で世界に入って行けますが、いきなりこの１４巻だけを読んだ人はさっぱり意味が分からないでしょう。１２年間、全１４巻をかけて作り上げてきたこの優しく暖かい世界を閉じる最終巻、せめて一言でもあとがきがあったらよかったのにと思わずにはいられません。

遂に最終巻という事で、昔から読み続けてきた僕にとっては切ない展開でした。
冒頭からマッキが成長して現れて、やがて娘まで出て来る。さらに時は過ぎて…
今までとは違い、時の流れが急速に速くなっています。
廃屋となったガソリンスタンドや診療所の前を行くアルファさんは今までと変わらぬ姿のまま。
このシーンを見て涙がでました。
謎が謎のままですが、これはこれでいいと思います。
ラスト後は余韻に浸りながら、語られなかった部分を想像したりするのもいいですね。
