手塚治虫の「宝島」は、マンガに初めて映画的なカット割を持ち込んだエポックメーキングな作品であった。最初は実験的な技法だったのが、「ジャングル大帝」に至ってドラマと技術が融合し大きな感動を生み出した。私は、戦後マンガ史では、手塚治虫を「第一の波」、劇画という新たな表現を生んだ白土三平を「第二の波」とするなら、大友克洋は近未来のリアルを描いた「第三の波」だと考える。ＡＫＩＲＡはその最終形態である。
ヤングマガジンに十年に渡って断続的に連載され、幾度か完結が危ぶまれたが、出来上がってみると細部まで良く練りこまれた作品だとわかった。百年は残る傑作である。

「ＡＫＩＲＡ」完結巻です。
10数年の連載、なかなか出なかった単行本、金田と鉄男の直接対決、あらゆる登場人物達の思惑等など…当時はあらゆるものに期待を膨らませて読みふけっていましたが、今でも読み応え充分です。嫌でもこれが最後なのです。
映画のラストとは異なり、力に満ち溢れたラストシーンは読後に心地良い風を吹かせてくれます。

もはや多くを語る必要は無いでしょう。

この物語は
壮大な未来の物語なのだろうか？
友情の物語なのかもしれない　青春の物語なのかもしれない
それとも、とんでもなく壮大なラブストーリーなんじゃないだろうか

いろいろな意味がこの物語の中に詰め込まれていると思う

じっくりと長い時間をかけてその意味を自分なりに読み解いていくのもいいと思う
話しはかわるが
「金田ぁ」「鉄雄ぉ！」などの台詞が何故かすごくかっこよく聞こえるのは
僕だけではないはずだ
