最終巻、将棋の行方とともに、しおんの両親を殺したのは
誰か、そして羽仁悟の元恋人和美の死、の謎が登場人物たちと
どう絡んでいくのか、が見所だったが、上手くまとめたと思う。
ただ、しおん以上に羽仁兄弟の存在とセリフが、印象に残った。

最後、しおんが歩との何気無い会話で、話せるようになるが、
もっとドラマチックな展開にもっていってもよかったようにも
思うが、幸せとは何気無い平凡なところにある、ということを
読者に訴えたかったのかな、とも思ったりする。
ありきたりだが、気持ちよく読み終われたのはよかった。
興味ある方は、ぜひ一度読んでみてください。

全体的には出来はいい。事件は解決し、後日談もいい方向に向いているが、
いくつかの疑問の余地、伏線の拾い忘れ(意図的に無視した?)、真相とそれまでの情報との矛盾等があったりする。
それらが解決されれば、もっとすっきりこの作品を読み終えられたと思う。
とはいえ、最終巻だけあって、対局だけでなくその周りの状況の変化も大きく、かなり楽しめた。将棋漫画としては稀に見る面白さだった。

本格将棋サスペンスと銘打たれ、アニメ化もされた『しおんの王』最終巻。
アニメもなかなかのものを魅せてくれましたが、やはり原作はレベルや桁違いどころではなく次元が違う。
超大作と呼ぶにふさわしい渾身の充実ぶりです。

あらすじ：
ついに名人との決勝戦にまで辿り着いた紫音。
そして紫音の両親を殺し、一美を死へと追いやった犯人が名人─羽仁真─であるという確信の下、真相へと迫る悟。
すべての始まりは将棋だった。
ならば、終わりもまた将棋によってもたらされるべき。
全ての点と線がいま、この一局に集束する。

といったわけで、件の棋戦の決勝ですべてが判明し、また紫音が勝利して物語が終わるという流れは先に完結を迎えたアニメと同じ流れです。
そういった意味ではアニメは原作を先取りしただけであり、オリジナルの道を進んでいたわけではないという事に。
ならば結末も見えた漫画を読んでどうするか、というのも尤もな話ですが、アニメにはない物語の流れ、細かな描写、段階を踏んで明かされていく真相などなど作りの丁寧さが比べ物になりません。
「あんなもんじゃない。俺は…俺はもっとやれる。もっとやれるんだ！本当の俺を、本気の俺を見ろ！」
と、言葉にするならこんな感じ（笑）。
（特にしおんが声を取り戻すきっかけの違いは見逃せません。アニメでは真への怒りから声を取り戻したのですが、原作では…。）

本当にすばらしく充実したまさに集大成といえる最終巻でした。
ただの読者なのに作品に引き込まれ登場人物の一員になったかのように感極まることまでありました。
やはり最初から結末までの道筋が出来上がっている作品というのは完成度の高さが抜きん出ていますね。
1巻から7巻のすべてがこの8巻のためだけに用意されていたといって過言ではありません。
帯の煽り文にもありますが、必読モノです。
正直に言って筆舌に尽くし難いものがあり、拙い文章では作品の魅力の半分も伝えられません。
今から書店に走って全巻揃えることをお奨めします。
