とにかく、両チームに「よくがんばったね！」と叫びたい。
ニューフェイスの西浦はプレッシャーに耐えて、なんとか桐青に一矢報いようとしている場面なんか、ドキドキしながら読みました。ボロボロの状態の三橋を、阿部はじめナインたちが支える姿を見ると、チームプレイのすばらしさを感じます。
桐青ナインたちも良い選手ばかりです。（というか、このマンガは嫌な選手なんかひとりもいない）ねばり強さで西浦を苦しめ、どちらが勝つかギリギリまでわかりません。
作者は「読ませる」達人ですね。野球に興味がない、高校野球なんか観ないひとも、きっと満足できる内容です。（読んだらその瞬間から野球に興味を持つでしょう）
読後感はとても良いです。なぜかカレーが食べたくなり、つくりました（爆）

この漫画は、才能溢れる選手が、一気に頭角を現し強豪を次々となぎ倒していく漫画じゃありません。

等身大の高校生が、野球を通じて泣いて笑って青春する、という漫画です。

主人公達は一年生ばかりでありながら、去年の優勝校を相手に互角に渡り合いますが、練習風景をきっちりと描いて努力しているのが判るので、有り得なさが感じられないのも高ポイントです。
しかも、主人公ばかりでなく、脇役や相手のチームもきちんと描写してます。八巻のこの円陣を組んだ表紙は、実は主人公達ではなく相手のチームなのですが、それが表紙に来るのが全く違和感ないほどです。

往年のプレイボールやキャプテンのように、青春を前面に押し出した野球漫画、お勧めです。

一年生だけのチームが強豪と互角に渡り合う。

ある意味"お約束"な展開だが、最近のスポーツものにありがちな必殺技等での強引な展開ではなく、地味に、だけど熱く戦ってくれるところが逆に新鮮で印象的。
特に配球に関する駆け引きと心理描写は引き込む力が凄い。

読み終った後もう一度読みたくなる。そんな漫画だと思う。
