10年ぶりに岩明先生の「寄生獣」を読んで、その残酷性と巧緻な心理描写の強いコントラストに改めて感動したが、この「ヒストリエ」もまた岩明先生の作風が強く滲み出た、秀逸な作品である。
舞台は紀元前のギリシャ。主人公エウメネスの幼少からの人生を、時折示唆される彼の暗い過去の体験を暗に織り交ぜながら、まるで目の細かい織物を織り上げるかのように物語を展開させていく。読者は冒頭からの残酷なシーンに一旦は引きながらも、その後刻々と展開する物語にすぐさまのめりこんでいくであろう。
今はまだ２巻までしか刊行されていないのが惜しまれる。早く先を読みたいと強く思わせる傑作に久々に出会えた。あなたが歴史好きではないとしても、物語の魅力だけで十分にのめり込めることは間違いないだろう。ただし、かなり残酷なシーンがあるので、スプラッターがダメな人にはあまり薦められない。絵とはいえ、言い知れぬ生々しさを伴うのもまた、岩明先生が名人なるがゆえなのかもしれない。

若い人に（ちなみに私は50過ぎです）、是非是非読んでみてくれなどと言って五巻分押しつけられた。
だいたい、いい本ですよ（コミックでも）とか言って「読んでください」などと言われると、かえって腰が引けてしまうのが常である。
今回もそう。一気に五巻、それも熱心にすすめられ、かえって手に取る気がしなくって、しばらく放置していた。しかも、「寄生獣」の岩明均かぁ。。。ちょっと、アレルギーあるなぁ、なんて勝手に思っていた。

ところがところが、読み始めてみるとどうだ。
これはおもしろい。
小説の醍醐味は、物語から、自分でその世界を空想することだけど、何せ古代ギリシャ時代とか言われると、やはり想像には限度があり、特に市民の普通の生活までもは想像することができない。「絵」として結べない。

その意味で、本書は、我々に誠になじみのない「古代ギリシャ」の町中の様子、市民の様子がイメージされ、実に楽しい。
ストーリーも中々ドラマチックで、わくわくする。
あぁ、あっという間に五巻まで読んでしまった。まとまって読めた幸せと、続きが読めない待ち遠しさ。
今度も、一巻一巻読むのではなく、しばらく我慢して、また一気に数巻読むかな。

これは、なかなかのおすすめ、です。
「寄生獣」とは、全く別の世界ですね。
あぁ、おもしろかった。次、早く出ないかなぁ。

我が心のマンガ「寄生獣」の作者の最新作。

前作の「ヘウレーカ」に似た、静かな作品。
ただ、話の持っていき方やキャラクター作りがうまく、
ぐぐぐっと引き込まれた。
１、２巻が同時発売されたが、なるほどこれは２冊でひとつ。
１巻だけでは実際の３分の１ぐらいしか魅力がない。
２冊そろうと一気につながって楽しい。

この人の得意技である、圧倒的な力の差による虐殺は
今回もやはり登場。スクリーントーンも少なく
白っぽい絵なのに、この迫力はなんだ。続きが気になる。
