失敗研究の第一人者、畑村さんが、
失敗に負けて潰されることなく
失敗と上手につき合うコツを記しています。

『失敗学のすすめ』などの従来の本と異なるのは、
一歩引いた客観的視点ではなく、
失敗当事者の立場で展開している話が多い点です。
著者がうつ状態に陥ったときのことなどにも触れられており、
なかなか実践的な内容となっていました。

失敗からすぐに立ち直れる強い人など滅多にいないものの、
誰もが生まれながらに「失敗から回復する力」を必ず備えている、
というのが著者の主張です。
そして、この力をうまく使うにはコツがあり、
それがどういうもので、どうすればうまくできるかということを
かなり具体的に示してくれています。

著者はこれまでに失敗を扱った本を何冊も出していますが、
同じ失敗の話なのに、それらとまったく違う深みがありました。
進化する「失敗学」のすごさを感じさせてくれる本です。

人は誰でも失敗する。
失敗をすれば、気分は落ち込み、クヨクヨと否定的なことばかり考え、
自分を追いつめていく・・・鬱（うつ）の状態。
このようにならないために、失敗から如何に速く立ち直るかが、本書で説明
されている回復力です。
わかり易い文章で書かれているため、理解し易いと思います。
一番気に入った『「失敗で自分が潰れないための項目』を挙げておきます。
・・・以降は、本書よりの抜粋につき、詳細は必ず本書を読んで下さい。
＊【逃げる】・・・一時的にその場から離れる（気分転換をする）
＊【他人のせいにする】・・・思考の連鎖を止めるために、あえてこのように考える
＊【お酒を飲む】・・・ゆったりとした気分になる
＊【眠る】・・・心身のリフレッシュ、頭を柔軟にする
＊【気晴らしをする】・・・エネルギー回復のための、気分転換
＊【愚痴を言う】・・・否定的な考えを、気のおける人に聞いてもらい、力を借りる

要は、失敗により自分が失ったエネルギーを、心身を休めることにより、
回復する方向に、如何に速く、向かわせるかと言う事です。

著者の二つの体験、学生の自殺を見たことと定年間際に感じた不安感から、読者に「とにかく生き続けるんだ」と繰り返しメッセージを伝える。失敗学の権威と思って購入した人には、すこし意外であるが「どうすれば失敗した状況から精神的に立ち直れるか」をカウンセラーのように提示する。非力であることをさっさと認めて一時避難し、時間を待ってエネルギーの回復を待つ。許容範囲を超えてがんばらず、できることをただやり続ける。経験と見識豊かな先生からの温かいアドバイスの宝庫であるこの本に工学といった分野を超えたあふれでる人間観人生観が伝わってきた。大切に残しておきたい本である。
