福岡 伸一
分子生物学者。1959年東京生まれ。京都大学農学部卒業。ロックフェラー大学、ハーバード大学医学部に研究員として勤務。京都大学助教授を経て、青山学院大学教授。専攻は分子生物学。主な著書に『プリオン説はほんとうか?』(講談社出版文化賞科学出版賞受賞)『生物と無生物のあいだ』(サントリー学芸賞受賞)などがある。2006年、第1回科学ジャーナリスト賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

番組自体が30分程度で本当に初歩的なものに見えそうですが、太田さんの話が上手いと言うか的確に本質を露にしようとしています。非常に深いです。前の人が書いているように私も、「生物と無生物のあいだ」を読んで大変理解に苦しみました。ですが、この本のおかげで著者が何を主張したかったのか改めて知ることができました☆

理系の知識がない私にとって『生物と無生物のあいだ』を読みこなすのは大変でした。
分子も原子もゲノムもDNAも細胞も遺伝子もよく分からない状態でしたので…
そのような私にとって、本書は生物の分子レベルで起きていることが分かりやすく書かれていたので大変有難かったです。

著者の福岡さんの一言一言が、科学的に裏打ちされたものであるのはもちろんですが、同時に哲学的な響きを持つ普遍的な箴言のように感じるのは、恐らく私だけではないでしょう。

『生物と無生物のあいだ』が難しいなぁ…と少し疎遠になっている人の入門書になり得るかと思います。
