1947年、愛知県名古屋市生まれ。愛知教育大卒。1986年、パスティーシュ(様式模写)を駆使した『蕎麦ときしめん』でユーモア小説の新境地を開拓。1988年『国語入試問題必勝法』で第9回吉川英治文学新人賞を受賞

西原 理恵子
1964年、高知県生まれ。武蔵野美術大学卒。1997年『ぼくんち』で第43回文藝春秋漫画賞受賞。2004年『毎日かあさん カニ母編』で第8回文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門優秀賞、2005年『上京ものがたり』『毎日かあさん』で第9回手塚治虫文化賞短編賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

4.0 out of 5 stars 清水義範の生真面目な読書案内、本篇よりも特別講座がお薦め, 2009/6/2
　清水義範は生真面目な点では井上ひさしと双壁で、生真面目すぎて笑えないところまでそっくり。そんなところが好きです。本作は2007年に刊行された名作案内で、作者の筆づかい（人物造型や物語の展開）を生真面目に論じています。そして、中心に取り上げた名作二十編（日本の小説と外国の小説が交互に登場）よりも、特別講座で取り上げた「お薦め十編（『スローターハウス５』など）」「泣ける話十編（『外套』など）」「王道ミステリー（『男の首』など）」の方が推薦書として気合いが入っています。
　本編で紹介されるのは、主人公の名前が出て来ない漱石の『坊ちゃん』、セレブな閉ざされた家族を極楽として描いた谷崎の『細雪』、自分に価値があると疑わなかった志賀の『暗夜行路』、なんでも虚構で書けると自負した三島の『金閣寺』、描写が緻密な『谷間の百合』『ボヴァリー夫人』（共にフランス文学）、くどくど執拗な描写の『罪と罰』、分析的・理知的な文体で現代的な『黒猫』などなど。川端『伊豆の踊子』のすっきりとはわからない理由を考察したり、芥川『河童』で作者がすっかり疲れてしまって論理が首尾一貫せず、話が壊れてしまっていると指摘したりする点は納得できます。
　西原理恵子の毒舌マンガは回（本作では巻）によってはまったく関係なかったりしますが、『ロビンソン・クルーソー』や『十五少年漂流記』は自分の家より平和だから「大きらい」、バルザックやトルストイなど「古外人」の小説は「わかんない」、『ダブリン市民』は「つまんなかった」、全編「話がまるでおもしろくない」と切り捨て、次の企画は『この文学がつまらない』で自分らの作品にも「天誅」を加えようと提案しています。

清水の文章とサイバラの絵でおくる、どつき漫才的、古典名作ブックレビュー。

清水が的確な文章で紹介し、サイバラがまぜっかえすのは、このシリーズのパターン。

サイバラの新ネタは、｢念力で読む｣
　　　　　　　　　　｢じっちゃんの顔にかけて（金田一少年のパロディ）｣

清水の文章は、派手さはないのだけど、腑に落ちることが多くて、好きです。

ちなみに、この本を読んで『高野聖』を再読しました。

清水氏が紹介する十数編にわたる本の読むべきポイント・・・というかツッコミどころを，清水氏，サイバラ女史，それぞれのツッコミ方で深く突っ込んでいる．
それがまた相反していたり，清水氏のツッコミをさらに助長するような，サイバラ女史のマンガが，なんとも言えず面白い．
これはとても面白く，一気に読み通せるのだが，問題は，これを読むとせっかく紹介いただいた１０数編の本を読む前に，読んだ気になってしまうほど，中身の本質をわかってしまう点にあるかもしれない．
本を読む時にそのどこに着目すべきか，ということを知りたい，
１０数冊におよぶ本を読む時間がないが，その本質を知りたい，，
またはそれらの本を読んだことがあるが解釈がわからない，または別の解釈を聞きたい，，，
そのように考えるいずれの方にもお勧めできる爆笑必死の１冊です．
