出張のお供にと単行本を物色していると平積みの単行本に石田衣良の文字が目に飛び込んできた
この間まで結構集中して読んでいた石田さんの「40　翼再び」だ
「人生の半分が終わってしまった。それも、いいほうの半分が。会社を辞めて、投げやりに・・・」とちょっと重い話に見えた。
僕も最近自分の人生についていろいろ思うところがある。まさに、40も半ばにかかる自分と重なるタイムリーな内容だと思い、本を手にしてレジに向かった・・・
出張の行き帰りの新幹線で一気に読んだ。40才、人生の半分。輝く前半に対比して行く先々が見えてしまっている後半の生き方。また40にて人生の終演を迎えざる得ない人生・・・
いつもの通り、お人好しの主人公が、少しうまく行きすぎたりする結末だったり、消えゆく命の話だったり石田ワールド全開で好きな人には期待を裏切らない一冊だ。
僕は新幹線と行きつけの焼トンやさんのカウンターで読みながら涙を何度か流していました。

仕事に行き詰まったらもう一度読み返してみたい一冊でした。

ときどき、涙ぐみながら、読んだ。
「余計な荷物を捨ててしまっても、人生には残るものがある。それは気持ちよく晴れた空や、吹き寄せる風や、大切な人のひと言といった、ごくあたりまえのかんたんなことばかりだ。そうした『かんたん』を頼りに生きていけば、幸せは誰にでも手の届くところにあるはずだ。」
その言葉がとても心に響いた。
お金は確かに必要だし、ほしいけど、そのためだけに働くのでは幸せは感じられない。そう思いながら読んだ。

石田衣良さんの作品初めて読みました。主人公喜一の前に登場するのは、いろいろな悩みを抱えた個性的なキャラの人たちでしたが、喜一の言動で彼らが前進していくのが心地よかったです。喜一みたいな人間は現実には存在しないかもしれないけど、でも前向きに頑張っていこうと思わせてくれました。
