　2001年に講談社ノベルスとして出たものの文庫化。
　「薬屋探偵妖綺談」シリーズの第６弾。
　今回の妖怪は座敷童子だという。というか、各巻ごとにテーマとなる妖怪がいたのか・・。
　陰惨な事件であるが、その陰惨さをまったく感じさせないような小説であった。このあたり、著者の文体ということもあるのだろうが、いただけない部分だ。他の本でも、この上滑り感がマイナスとなっているのではないか。
　ミステリとしては、ひねりがあって面白かった。
　しかし、あの唐突な結末はどうなのか。

総和の依頼で、彼の友人である虎徹の実家である愛媛に赴くことになった、秋、座木、リベザルの三人。
虎徹は家に取り憑いた「何か」を祓ってほしいというが……

いつも以上にミステリー色が強くて楽しめました。
事件は凄惨なもので切なかったですが、高遠とのクロスで謎が解けていく様子はわくわくしました。

キャラクターとしてはリベザルが好きなので、彼の成長ぶりが見られたり、秋がリベザルを守ろうする様子が窺えたりしたのがうれしかったです。
「どうして人を殺してはいけないの？」
というリベザルの疑問も、ありきたりではあったけれど、事件との相乗効果で胸に響きました。

座木の活躍が少なかったのは少し残念。
けれど裁縫が苦手だったりバレンタインデーに天然だったりと、新しい一面を見ることもできました。
個人的には、彼がリベザルの頭を撫でてやるシーンが好きです。
