小峰 元
1921年兵庫県生まれ。大阪外国語大学スペイン語学科卒。貿易商、教員などを経て1943年毎日新聞社に入社。1973年『アルキメデスは手を汚さない』で第19回江戸川乱歩賞を受賞。その後、『ピタゴラス豆畑に死す』などの作品を発表、青春推理を分野として確立した。1994年逝去(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

第19回江戸川乱歩賞受賞作。1973年の作品。
ミステリーと言うより青春小説と言った方が良いのだろう。
だけど、青春小説として読むには、この作品に書かれて
いる若者達には魅力が感じられず、感情移入出来ない。

作品中に「総括」と言う言葉が使われているように、当時活動
していた連合赤軍の影響を強く受けているのだろうが、妙に
姑息で若者らしさが感じられない。

法に違反しなければ何をしても良いと言う土建屋の柴本氏も、
この若者たちの考えも、基本的に同じではないだろうか。
むしろ柴本氏の方が正常で、柴本氏の娘の美雪や、その仲間
の高校生の方が異常とさえ思えてしまう。

時代背景が違うのかも知れないが、当時の彼らより、はるかに
若い世代であるにも関わらず、その考え方や行動は奇異に感じた。
この作品で書かれているのは、大人の目線から見た若者達なの
ではないだろうか。

登場人物に共感できないのは、青春小説としては致命的である。
ミステリーとして見ても、時刻表トリックや密室などを取り込んで
いるが、いずれもただ使っているだけで、底が浅く中途半端である。

さすが、
東野圭吾をその気にさせたというだけはある。

30年位前にかかれた作品だというのに、
テーマも、
動機も、
とても現代的ともいえる。
理想主義的な部分も否めないが、
それでも、
“ドラマ”で楽しませてくれる。
推理やトリックの面白さというよりは、
登場人物たちの描き方が上手なのだ。

正統派の推理小説。
骨太な一作。
解けないままの謎。

他の作品も読んでみたい作家となりました。

東野圭吾氏がこれを読んで、作家を志したとか。
確かにその当時には新鮮だっただろうと思われる、高校生中心の青春小説＋推理？


うーん、でも、正直、大人が書いた高校生って感じだった。
発想が高校生じゃない。
他の人も書いているようなので深入りは避けるけど、正義感を振りかざしてあげくに強姦って発想は高校生のそれではないでしょう。
なんか、むりして高校生を主人公にしたいのかもしれないけど、その論拠がイマイチだし、無理めでイタイ。
うっかり妊娠して、困って殺人って方がまだわかりやすかった。

そうしてセリフ回し。
百歩譲って、昔の高校生は博学だったとしても、セリフの中に阿諛、とか拱手傍観、とか出てくるのはちょっと・・

「（中略）万国博覧会後の万博サーキットを飛ばさせようや。オートバイで吹っ飛ばすほどではなくても、いくらかは気が晴れるだろうぜ」
作者の人、実際に声に出して読んでみたのかな？かなり不自然だと思うけどなぁ・・

なーんか感覚があわなかった。

ということで、★3つ。
