久々に徹夜して読み通した作品でした。
話の流れのテンポがよく、飽きさせない。
読者を引き込ませるのが非常に上手いと感じました。
著者の略歴を差し引いても、場景描写がすこぶる巧み。
表現が上手いなぁと幾度か感心させられました。
社会派ミステリ系と言えそうですが、「本格」好きの方でも大きな違和感を感じないのではないでしょうか。
それほど物語性が上手です。
今後もぜひ著作を読んでみたい作家さんとなりました。

「第４９回江戸川乱歩賞」受賞作です。
こういう賞ものに弱いです(^^;)

赤井さんはニッポン放送を経て、今はフジテレビにお勤めの現在５２歳かな？
他にも出版されてるのか分かりませんが、受賞作という事で興味を持って購入しました。
しかしながら、とても面白かったです。

舞台も赤井さんに近いような新聞社というだけあって、臨場感がありました。
２０年前に起こった未解決の新生児誘拐事件に絡んで、被害者、加害者、記者、病院関係者と、もう時効もとうにすぎた事件を追っていくのですが、少しずつ核心に迫っていきます。
そして最後は･･･
う〜やられた･･･！

これは間違いなくドラマ化されそうだな〜。
サスペンス劇場にピッタリかも(^^;)

20年前に起きた誘拐事件の容疑者だった自殺した男の娘が新聞社に内定したことが写真週刊誌にスクープされたということで、新聞社が当時の誘拐事件の再調査を始めるというストーリー。新聞社の窓際記者という素人探偵が事件に迫る構成なので、オーソドックスな警察ものに比べて柔らかいイメージ。うまく過去と現在を織り交ぜて話を展開しており、また、なかなか描写が丁寧で好感が持てる。残念ながら？伏線がちょっとくどすぎて途中で犯人が分かってしまったが、今後も期待できる作者だと思う。文庫本であれば十分お買い得な一冊。
