私は初めてこの著者の本を読みました。
著者の他の作品から入った人は作風が違うと感じられた意見が多いようですが、
私はこの本は秀作だと思います。
ストーリーは人形に関わる数人の登場人物の視点から
書き進められているのですが、さらっと素直に読んでいると、
後半「あれ？」と思いことになります。
私の勘違いかな？もう一度読み直してみないといけないかな・・・と、
自分の読解力の無さがそうさせるのかと不安になりましたが、
まんまと騙されたわけです。（ネタバレはできませんが）
全体にどんよりとしたストーリーですし、登場人物にいまいち好感が持てない
などの意見はありますが、後半にはストーリーの主役たちの成長も感じられ、
思い込んでいた冷たい親子関係も実は幼さゆえに誤解していたという
救われる面もあり、私は感動すらしました。
大きな盛り上がりはないですが、心理的サスペンス好きの方は
気にいるストーリーだと思います。

他の作品にくらべて雰囲気が異なることは他の方のレビューにもあるとおりですが、私はそれが心地よかったです。
この作者のほかの作品はちょっと善のにおいが強すぎ、じゃっかん説教くさく感じてしまうことあったので。。。
私の性格が悪いからかもしれませんが。
ラストにかけての主人公の気持ちの変化はこの作者らしい着地の仕方なので、だからこそちょっと残念。せっかく冒険しているので、もっとズバズバッと最後までいってくれてもよかったかな。ということで４つ。

人形には魂が宿っているのではないだろうか。そう思うときがある。
幼い頃暗い部屋に入ったとき、人形のほうを見るのが怖かった。
だが人形は時として人の心を癒す存在にもなりうる。この作品の中の
人形の果たす役割はとても不思議なものだった。なぜまゆらは聖によく
似た人形を作ったのか？だが、この真相よりも驚いたのは、作品自体
だった。思わず最初からまた目を通した。作品自体に隠されていた
ものに気づかなかった。これからこの作品を読む人には、じっくり
味わいながら読むことをおすすめしたい。
