特定の主人公を置くわけではなく、アメリカのハゲタカファンドの日本人社長と、経営破綻したスーパーを再建するために友人に請われて邦銀からスピンアウトしたスーパーの社長と、これも経営に行き詰まっているホテルを建て直そうとしている女社長の三者の生き様をそれぞれ描く独特のスタイル。三者とも金融問題に直面している、そして日本に対する高い愛国心を持っているという共通点があり、同時並行でそれぞれのストーリーが進んでいく中で、相互に影響し合う。バブル前後の日本経済の状況を忠実に描写し、また、実在の企業をモデルにしているので、ノンフィクション性の高いフィクションであると言える。バブル期の金融機関の経営やコンプライアンスがどれほど緩んでいたのか、バブル後の金融機関の貸しはがし、貸し渋りでどれだけ地方の中小企業が影響を被ったのかなどといったことについて、アウトサイダーとしてはこれまで実感が湧かなかったのだが、本書を読むと、そのあたりがかなり生々しく描写されており、知的好奇心が刺激されてついつい引き込まれてしまう。かなりの長編小説であるが、中だるみもなく、興味深く読ませてもらった。

ＮＨＫのドラマを見て原作を購入…そしてただただ驚いた。全然原作と違う…。
良くこれで原作者がドラマ化許したなぁと…。

では、原作がドラマから劣っていたかというと、そんなことはなく、むしろ
ドラマ版鷲津が引きずっている妙な暗さがなく、小気味よくストーリーが
展開していく様は圧巻。そして経済小説らしく、裏舞台を丁寧に描いていく様
は経済ニュースの裏舞台を覗いているようで非常に面白い。

上巻は三葉銀行（旧三和銀行？）のバルクセールを軸に、鷲津vs芝野の第一ラウンド
や日光・ミカドホテルの話など、下巻そしてバイアウトへと続いていく伏線にも
なっていてどんどん続きが読みたくなっていく。

私のようにドラマから入ったファンも、全くの別物として楽しめる一作である。

世間ではそれほど馴染みの無い外資系再生ファンドのことが詳しく書いてあり、とても面白かったです。
いくつかの各論的なストーリーはスピード感があり、読んでいて楽しいです。ただし、上下間に亘って繰り広げられる鷲津と芝野の関係は勘の悪い私でも前半（もっというと最初の数ページ）で分かってしまい、ラストは読み通りで若干期待外れでした。もっというと、鷲津と芝野の関係の裏にある要因がとても浅く（各論との関係がゼロ）、とって付けた感が否めません。
各論のストーリーの面白さは☆☆☆☆、全体を結ぶラストの閉め方は☆、外資系ファンドの内容が分かる点が☆☆☆☆、総合評価として☆☆☆☆。
