＜六枚のとんかつ＞でネガティブに有名な蘇部健さんの作品です。
●●●男というと九回のメフィスト賞、＜ハサミ男＞が思い浮かばれることかと思いますが全く異質なものです。ただ、後半は袋とじですからハサミは必要です。
内容は主に作中に出てくる木乃伊男の正体は誰なのかを探っていくミステリーです。ところどころイラストがあるのですがその中にヒントがあったりなかったりします。
ただこの作者、解説で黒田研二さんが述べているようになんか少しずれているようにやはり感じました。
＜包帯を巻く理由は普通火傷でしょう、性病は無いでしょう！＞とか、そんなツッコミを入れながらわりときれいに着地するミステリーです。
悪評高い作者に触れて見たいならぜひ読んでみてください。あとがきは乙一クラスに面白いです。

2002年に講談社ノベルスとして出たものの文庫化。
　包帯で顔をグルグル巻きにした「木乃伊男」の正体とは誰か？　この謎を手を変え品を変え、一冊引っ張っていってくれるのが楽しい。あの人かと思えば別人であり、この人かと思えばまた異なりというように、どんでん返しが繰り返しやってくるのだ。
　はじめは馬鹿にして読んでいたのだが、けっこうつくりこまれた作品であり、意外なくらい面白かった（反動？）。
　もちろん、文章のまずさとか、いろいろと欠点はあるのだが。
　挿絵はちゃんと見た方がいい。
