国を追われたヤクザが東南アジアへ逃げるという始まり。この流れはちょっと強引な感じもしましたが、タイで襲撃されベトナムへ逃げ、そこでベトナム人の少年達と知り合い、彼らのシクロ漕ぎとしての生活が描かれるところは臨場感があり楽しめた。共産主義国家でありながら強烈な資本主義的な弱肉強食の経済、公然とまかり通る賄賂、人々の生活感、そこで日系企業に各種便宜をはかる現地日本人等々、東南アジア独特の熱気と喧噪、混乱がとてもよく伝わってくる。旅行、駐在等で訪れたことのある読者には懐かしく感じる点もかなりあると思う。

海外に逃亡した日本のヤクザと、日本に渡りお金を稼ぐ事を目的とする
ベトナムの若者たち。この二者が、やがて出会い物語は進展します。

日本人から見れば、日本はそれほど住みやすい国とは思えませんが、
一攫千金を夢見るベトナム人から見れば、「黄金の国」に見えるんでしょうか。
日本に来ても、あまり良い事は無いように思えますが。

グループを作りシクロをこいでお金を稼ぐ若者たち。
市民に因縁をつけて賄賂を巻き上げる警官。
夢を実現するため体を売る女たち。
異国でフィクサーとして活動する日本人。
日本で修司を外国に追いやる事になった女性とヤクザの幹部。

様々な人の思いが交錯し、やがて日本から逃げてきたヤクザの修司くんは、
ベトナムの若者たちに手を貸して日本を目指す事になります。
果たして下巻で彼らを待ち受ける運命やいかに。

今日上巻を読み終えて、下巻を読み始めました。
夢を抱くベトナムの若者達、それを阻止する社会のシステム。

どこにいても、自分の夢のために順風満帆に進んでいける人なんて一握りしかいない。現実はそんなものだ。と感じさせつつも、諦めてしまってはその場で人生は終わってしまう。やはり人間は目標があってこそ何事も一生懸命頑張れる事を強く感じさせてくれました。
下巻はどのように物語が展開していくのか。。。
楽しんで読んでおります。

そんなに重苦しい内容ではないから、どなたにもお勧めできます。
