私が、著者の作品を読むのは『深紅』に続いて２作目なのだが、共通するのは心理描写の巧さだ。マスコミが人間、事件などを「祭り」に仕立てあげて行く様子。それを逆手にとってのし上がって行く八尋樹一郎。その悪意に気づいて行動をする長坂と赤松。マスコミ業界に携わって、よくその体質を知っている著者が、その巧みな心理描写を生かしきったからこその作品だと思う。終盤の心理戦には、鬼気迫るものがあった。

が、一方で、その重要人物である八尋がカリスマとなっていく過程がどうしても説明不足な印象が残った。カリスマにのし上がる過程が説明不足なだけに、それを信奉する若者達の行動・心理も理解が難しく、リアリティに欠けてしまっている感がある。その辺りがもう一歩。

以前のＴＶドラマが深く印象に残ったので、改めて読み
直しました。
八尋がカリスマ化していく過程には多少無理がある面も
否めませんが、それを補って余りある迫力が感じられる
作品だと思います。
また、主人公やその部下達の報道にかける意気込みやプ
ライドは、低俗なバラエティばかりの今の日本のマスコ
ミ（特にテレビ）関係者には是非見習ってもらいたいと
感じさせるものでした。

テレビドラマの脚本家、野沢尚ならではの作品。

報道や取材に関する描写が丁寧で細かい。
そしてそこで起こる人間関係の力学に始まり、
報道被害、そしてテレビが作り出す「カリスマ」の姿が、
克明に描き出される。

「破線のマリス」の延長線上にあるこの作品は、
テレビを含むメディアの恐ろしさを自覚した
一人のテレビマンからの警鐘と言えるだろう。

つくづく、惜しい作家を亡くしたものである。
