「三月は深き紅の淵を」と表と裏の関係にある一冊。
読了後、「三月は・・・」も再読しました。
両方読んでお互いの深さを味わえます。
北方の湿原の中にある陸の孤島にある学校。
この学校では「ここに三月以外に入ってくる者があれば、そいつがこの学校を破滅に導くだろう」という言い伝えがあった。
そこに二月の終りの日に転入生水野理瀬がやってきた。

不思議な風習と絶対的な権力を持つ校長。
行方不明になる生徒。
最後まで本の中の雰囲気に気圧されたままで独特の世界観が味わえます。
読了後に「三月は深き紅の淵を」
「殺人鬼の放課後ミステリ・アンソロジー２」の中の「水晶の夜、翡翠の朝」、
「図書室の海」、「黒と茶の幻想」と読み繋いでいって欲しい。

六番目の小夜子、光の帝国に続いて麦の海に沈む果実を読みました。
奇怪な学園に起こる不気味な出来事は、背筋のひんやりする思いで、ぞくぞくしながらも読み進むことができました。この感覚が恩田ワールドだと思います。確か六番目の小夜子の時もそうでした。
しかし、六番目の小夜子同様、ラストがやや…。
途中のぞくぞく感でラストはどうなるのだろう！？と期待しながら読み進めていくだけに、これも六番目の小夜子同様少し物足りなさを感じました。
ラストがもう少し充実すると恩田陸は最高だと思います。

二月二十八日。水野理瀬は湿原に囲まれた全寮制の学園に転入する。生徒たちは「三月の国」以外の侵入者を恐れていた。その学園には、三月以外にやってくる転入生は学園を破滅に導くという伝説があったのだ。
湿原の中の閉塞的な学園で起きる、不可解な失踪事件に巻き込まれてしまう主人公の話。

とにかく夢中になって一日で読んでしまいました。それくらいはまってしまいます。甘ったるくてどこか憂いをおびたような雰囲気の中で、独特なミステリーが味わえる魅力的な作品です。

この作品は関連する作品が沢山あるので、以下の作品も読んでみるとさらに面白さが深まると思います。
