　第2回大藪春彦賞、第18回日本冒険小説協会賞、そして第53回日本推理作家協会賞をトリプル受賞した作品。
　第122回直木賞候補作品(この時の受賞作品はなかにし礼『長崎ぶらぶら節』)。
　「宝島社 このミステリーがすごい！」　2000年度　第3位
　「週間文春　傑作ミステリーベスト10」 1999年 第3位

　下巻では一気に事態が動き出します。
　対立する両陣営いったいどうなるのか…
　一見、どちらが勝つのか予想できません。どちらも正しい気がするからです。
　そのため、最期の最期まで目が離せません。

　本書は物凄く綿密に練られた理論で根底を支えられています。
　その上で、登場人物たちは周到に練られた計画等に基づいて行動しています。
　それを悪くいえば、人間が所属する組織や人間関係に縛られているのと同じ側面があります。
　それにもかかわらず、最期の最期には、彼らは理論で割り切ることができない情熱、愛、友情、そして生き甲斐によって付き動かされていきます。
　そんな彼らを私は応援せずにはいられませんでした。
　そして、彼らを応援しながら読み進めているうちに、自分の中に何か熱いものが沸々と湧いてきました。

　上下巻両方の私のレビューを見てくださった方がいましたら、嬉しい限りです。

上巻の最後と同様、読者が『えっ！』というような“どんでん”があります。現実離れしている内容ではなく、実際の政治もこんな感じなのだろうか…と考えさせられます。
また、日本人として、平和についても考えさせられる一冊です。
しかしながら、最後はスッキリと終わってくれるので、後味の良い作品です。

何か本が読みたいと思って何気なく立ち寄った本屋でこの本に惹かれました。理由はわかりませんが、今思えば本当に良かったと思います。「Ｔｗｅｌｖｅ　Ｙ・Ｏ」と引き続き読んだのですが、話のつなげ方も凄くうまいと思いました。知らない間に一ページ、また一ページと引き込まれていきます。日本を亡国と表現して、今問題となっている北朝鮮問題を掘り下げた勇気も凄いと思います。最後の最後で意外な人物が登場したのは驚きました。さすが、福井晴敏さん。
