登場人物の息遣いや手のひらにかいているであろう汗まで、読み手は
感じることができる。会話の中での何気ない言葉、ちょっとしたしぐさ
などで、人間像は現実味を帯び、深みを増す。どの話も、心理描写が
抜群にうまいと思った。報われるか？報われないか？と尋ねられたら、
報われないと答える話ばかりだが、彼らは決して人生をあきらめたわけ
ではない。そのことが自然と行間から感じられる。どの話も面白かったが、
「男」を感じさせる「紅の樹」が一番印象に残る。作者の独特の感性が
感じられる作品だった。

「テロリストのパラソル」で乱歩賞と直木賞を受賞した作者の良質の短編集。
「テロパラ」のようなハードボイルドを期待して購入すると、少し趣が異なるのでとまどうかもしれないが、この本に収められた６編は、作者の様々な一面を見せてくれる、心あたたまる作品ばかりである。

このうち「紅の樹」は「テロリスト・・」「ひまわり・・・」にも通じるハードボイルド。長編としても通用するプロットを凝縮して読ませてくれる作品である。
表題作「雪が降る」は、青春をすぎ中年にさしかかったた男女がおりなす純愛物語であり、作品全体にちりばめられた切なさがたまらない。そして、得られる爽快な読後感はとにかくすばらしい。

普段ミステリーしか読まない私にも十分に楽しめる一冊であった。
（「トマト」だけは単純な私には理解困難であった。）

なんと言っても表題作の「雪が降る」が秀逸だった。
忘れ得ぬ過去からの呼び声に似たメールによって明かされる、心の奥に残る傷の甘い痛み。
それを感傷に溺れることなく淡々と描き出し、最後には未来への希望をも感じさせる。
くたびれた中年男をこんなにも格好良く書ける作家は、藤原伊織をおいて他にはいないのでは
ないだろうか。
だからこそ、作者の早すぎる逝去が悔やまれてならない。
切なさに満ちていながら、心震える温もりをも感じさせる短編集である。
