　これは、今までの小説と一味も二味も違ったものでした。
今までの小説は「なるほど」と思っていくものが多いのですが。
悪意は読んでいくにつれ、「え・・・・」となっていまうのです。
１つの事件から見えてくる、その人の人間性や考え。とても奥の深い小説だと思います。　これは是非１度読んでみてほしいです。

　一人称の形で物語は進行する。ある作家が殺される。犯人は案外あっさりと分かる。しかし、その犯人はなぜか動機を語ろうとはしない。次々と動機に関係ありそうな事柄が浮かび上がってくるが、決め手となるものはない。謎はますます深まってゆく。そして、犯人自身によって真相が語られる。それは込み入っており、われわれ読者が想像できる範疇を超えている。作家というもののエゴを感じずにはいられない。しかし、犯人が動機を語らなかったのは、愛する人を守るためだった。そこからは、人間の本質が見えてくる。悪意というタイトルがついているが、事件の真相からは犯人の悪意は見えてこない。むしろ、自分ではどうしようもない感情に流される人間の弱さ、哀しさ…そういったものが浮かび上がってくる。このストーリーは決して特別なものではなく、われわれがともすれば陥りかねないわなを描き出している。どこにでもある、私たちみんなが持っている悪意。それが時には、殺人事件を引き起こすこともあるのだ。私たちは、彼ら（殺人犯）を特別な人間と考えるのではなく、同じ人間としてとらえるべきであろう。
　…と思っていたら、最後に大どんでん返しが待ち受けていた。これまでの出来事がすべて覆されてしまうほどの。さすが東野圭吾、と思わせる作品である。ミステリー好きを満足させるに足る好著。
　悪意―。このタイトルの持つ本当の意味を知ったとき、読者は人間の不可思議さ、その心理の微妙さに思いを致さずにはいられないだろう。人間の持つ業が見事に表現されている小説である。

5.0 out of 5 stars ミスリードが巧み。見事にやられました。, 2005/12/17
いきなり捕まる犯人。彼の書いた手記により明らかになる動機に成程と納得。
が、甘いのです。読者を一旦納得させておいてから見事にそれを裏切る東野氏の十八番が待ち構えていました。
東野作品なので多少のミスリードはある程度は覚悟していましたがこの作品は特に手が込んでいます。
２転３転していくアクロバティックな話の展開に完全にしてやられました。
正直少なすぎですが星５つ！
