米軍の北朝鮮攻撃計画はすさまじい内容だ。金正日政権の命運もこれまでかと思ってしまう。
米国防省が本当に朝鮮半島に照準を合わせとしたら、小泉さんも噂される訪朝をためらってしまうに違いない。

ただ、現実に戻ると、イラクで宗派戦争まで起きているのに、ブッシュ大統領に北攻撃指令を出す余力があるのかと考えてしまう。

ペンタゴンの計画はわかったが、肝心の金正日政権の軍事力、北朝鮮の内部情勢への把握に何となく不安が残る。
以前、読んだ「金正日の後継者は在日の息子」は、北はニューリーダーの下で改革を進め、経済は上向き、核ミサイル戦力もブッシュ政権発足時に比べ格段に強化されたと異なる評価を下している。
ブッシュ大統領もこれまで北朝鮮の実力を把握しきれず決断をためらってきた。汝の敵を知れではないが、今度こそ決断するのか、また 「待った」がかかるのか、その辺のところを踏み込んでほしかった。

「アメリカはここまで想定している！」と、センセーショナルなオビ。

本書で詳しく言及されている「殲滅計画」に加え、実際には「クーデター＆自壊」「エスピオナージュ」などもっとずうっとつっこんだケーススタディがなされているでしょう、というか本書程度の想定では素人目にもちと甘いと思うのですが。

平和な日本ならではの書か。

米国防省があらゆるシナリオを想定するのはよくあることだ。北朝鮮の軍事力や内部情勢への分析はさすがとうなるものがある。
しかし、実情をいくら正確に捉えているかとは別問題だろう。
現にイラクではかなり失敗しているし、イラク以上に情報収集が限られている北朝鮮でどれだけ実際の生情報を得られるのか疑問だ。

現実的にも、イラクではスンニ派とシーア派の宗教戦争まで勃発し、事態はさらに悪化している。ブッシュ政権の民主化政策は頓挫し、米軍は手を離せなくなっている。
イランやパレスチナ方面も風雲急を告げ、米国に北朝鮮にまで手を伸ばす余力はないと見るのが順当な見方だろう。
北朝鮮最終殲滅計画とタイトルは勇ましいが、実行は難しい。

タイトルに惑わされ、北朝鮮制裁論の根拠にする軽薄な人が出て来ないことを望みたい。
