ミステリーランド第四回配本本。
主人公の智己は眠りにつくことで猫の身体に乗り移れるという能力を持つ・・・こんな突拍子もない設定なのに
何の違和感もなく物語に入れるのはやっぱり西澤氏ならではですよね。
事件そのものは最近起きている残忍さを含んでますし、また小学生ならではの自分本意な考え方や行動もあり少し

薄ら寒いものがあるのですが、逆にそういう現実の世界と猫になるという空想の世界が妙に合ってるですよ。
しかも巧みに伏線が張られているので誰もが納得するラストです。
途中でふと真相に気付くのですが最後にその謎解きをちゃんとするところがいいですよね。
これなら子供も大満足だと思います。
私の中では拍手喝采の１冊です。

本当子供の頃にミステリーランド読みたかったですね。
もしこの本を読んでいたら私の場合猫に乗り移ろうと必死でお昼寝してそうです。（笑）

まずファンジーでありながら、事件の背景は物騒な昨今をベースにしている。妙にリアルである。そのリアル感と猫に乗り移ることができる少年という甘いファンタジー的な設定の対比が面白い。小学校６年生にして老成したような主人公と、猫に乗り移っているときの友達のピーター（セントバーナード）との会話も子供同士の会話とは思えない。ピーターの言動もジジ臭いのだ。

いつ子供たちの身にふりかかってもおかしくない事件の中に、彼らを取り巻く環境の不安定さや、彼らの抱える精神的な問題がきっちり描かれている。

この本のタイトルの意味は最後にわかる。ピーターは年寄りみたいな喋り方でジジ臭いけれど、ここ一番には頼れるよき友。最後にほろほろと泣いてしまった。ファンタジーとミステリとリアリティが合体したすばらしい作品だと思う。

「子供時代」がテーマの今回も西澤節炸裂！ちゃんとSFそれでいて本格な1冊です。こんな冒険をしてみたい、いやしてみたかった。
ミステリーファン、西澤ファンならもちろん読んでおきたい。相変わらずの凝ったネーミングも漢字の勉強になります。
