小学校最後の夏休み。風太の前に現れたのは、未来を売る「未来屋」の猫柳さん。彼は、未来の予想を売るのではなく、確実な未来を売るのだという・・・。
派手な事件が起こるわけではなく、主人公の住む町に起こったちょっとした非日常的な謎が、猫柳さんによって解決されるさまは、読んでいて小気味いい。どの謎も、ラストに向けて収束していく構成がまた面白い。

そして、結局解決できない（猫柳さんには分かっているけれど、風太には伝わっていないー本編には書かれていない）謎を残すところがまた、はやみねさんだなあと。

テンポが良く、たたたっと進んで行く文章も読みやすくてよかった。
風太と猫柳さんの関係も、楽しく描かれている。

こどもからおとなまで読んで欲しい本である。

非常にテンポの良い快活な展開でサクサクと物語が進んでゆき、最初から最後まで楽しく面白い気分で拝読させて頂きました。私個人の一番の見所は主人公と未来屋の絡み合い。クスリと笑え、またほのぼの気分にさせてくれとても良かったです。読後は全身に心地良い粟立ちすらも感じ、私も自分自身の過去でもあった「夏休み」を走馬灯のように頭を駆け巡らせ、再びほんのり淡い感動。忘れていた童心をこっそり蘇らせてくれるそんな一冊です。

小学６年生の夏。長かった１学期も終わり、ついにやってきた夏休みにワクワクしているぼく。両手いっぱいの荷物とともに、独りで歩いていた帰り道、突然声をかけてきたのは、１００円で未来を売る男「未来屋」だった。作家になることを夢見るぼくに、「未来をしりたくないかい？」と声をかける、いかにもあやしい雰囲気を漂わせた未来屋。どこか懐かしい香りのする、海辺の町・髪櫛（かみくし）町を舞台に、ちょっと不思議な駄菓子屋の名物ばあさんや、これまたあやしい町一番の有名人“髪櫛町のレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチ”などなど、とっても魅力的な人々がたくさん登場。“神隠し”の伝説が残る学校近くのぶきみな森や、夏の終わりを告げる盛大な花火大会が、後のことなど考えず、１日を精一杯楽しんでいた、あのころの自分の姿を思い出させてくれる。すべての漢字にルピ（ふり仮名）がふってあるので、ふだんは「本なんて嫌いだ！」って言っているような子どもも含めて、とにかく家族全員で楽しむことができる一冊。
