帯に「名作の技法を解き明かす！」なんて書いてあるけれど、
息子さんが編集されてるので、とても優しいです（易しい、ではなく）。
必ず、えんぴつや透明水彩を自分でも触ってみたくなります。
いわさきちひろさんの絵を「解析」するのではなく、
じっくり奥深く「味わえる」、すばらしい一冊です。

ちひろさんの水彩技法は、美しくて優しくて‥‥。
でも、とっても複雑だから、真似して描こうなんて思ったこと
一度もありませんでした。

この本の最初にちひろさんの愛用していた画材、
絵を描いているちひろさんの写真があって、
「絵ってとても楽しいわよ。どうぞあなたもやってご覧なさい」って
誘ってくれているように感じられました。
そのあとから、彼女の好きな色、多用していた白抜きの技法、
にじみぼかしの技法などに入っていきます。
もちろん、お得意の花や子どもの絵がどうやって描かれたのかも、
きちんと解説されています。
手順をわかりやすく教えてくれるコーナーもあるので
とても参考になり、すぐにやってみたくなりました。
デッサンやスケッチの項をみると
やはり、かなりの修練のたまものだったことがわかります。

最後まで読んで、うなってひとこと。
ちひろさんの絵はもちろん、本の構成、編集、
すべて、お見事！
いろいろちひろさんの本を持っていますが、
この本をだしてくださって、感謝です。

いわさきちひろの絵には不思議な魅力がある。
子どもを描いているのが多いが、
かわいらしいしぐさを、とてもうまくとらえていて
身近な子ども（自分の子どもや、近所の子ども、親戚の子ども）の
姿に重なり、親近感を覚える。
淡くにじんだ水彩の技法は
心のひだにしみ込むように入ってくる。
この本は、ちひろの初の『技法書』ということだが、
にじみぼかし、白抜きのやり方を解説したコーナーもあり、
ほんとうに勉強になった。
ただかわいくみえていた絵。
しかし、その表現の裏には、画家の修練がしっかりあった
ということもよくわかった。
（デッサンのコーナーはみもの！）
本の最初のほうに、ちひろの画材や、
ちひろが実際に絵を描いている写真が掲載されていて、
なんだかちひろが生きているように感じられた。
本自体の構成もすばらしい！
